What if it is a threat to shoot up the school?
Why would the FBI care unless there was an abject threat? A better example, as pointed out, would be if your employer questioned you about the speech and fired you.
Students are different than adults.
If they are dumb enough to do that then they should ride the short bus to a remedial school.
But your employer is a private entity. This high school is government.
Do you think they should be suspended for that? If off campus?
The schools are not parents and they need to be taught that.
That lesson needs to be learned.
I think you are going to an extreme. What has happened when a student makes a threat on that level in the past?
Why? Nothing has happened. No laws or even rules were broken. You going to “call 'em over gossip”?
That reminds me of the 911 calls on MWAG.
You want to make a general announcement reiterating the rules over the intercom? Go ahead.
Why are you going to single out two students over a Karen Komplaint?

The schools are not parents and they need to be taught that.

Amen. Schools are for teaching. What happens when kids leave the campus is not their business.

What are you thoughts on threats of life.
Like a student posts on social media, off campus, that he will shot up his school tomorrow. Should he be suspended?
No. The law should be called.

Bu…buh… iT tAKes a ViLlaGe!
Sure. The village I choose for my child. Not the one chosen for me.

I think you are going to an extreme. What has happened when a student makes a threat on that level in the past?
It’s not an extreme example. It’s an example of prior restraint.
Today, They would be suspended and maybe even expelled.
I’m asking you, should they?

Already answered.

I agree.

Sneaky gave an answer… you didn’t.
It’s cool. Thanks

WuWei:
So we generally know what was said in the social media by these students.
Would we accept being called into the local FBI office and sentenced to 10 days in county jail for this same posts? All white participants?
Why would the FBI care unless there was an abject threat? A better example, as pointed out, would be if your employer questioned you about the speech and fired you.
Students are different than adults.
FBI and schools are government. What happened to these kids is basically the same thing. The school is not their employer. Going to school is not voluntary.

I gave two but it’s cool. You’re welcome.

Interesting thought…
Schools do exactly what parents do… without shared DNA.
They teach
They discipline
They feed
They provide shelter
They do this for 5-7 hours a day… for 6-8 months. In a lot of ways parents depend on the school to watch over their kids.

The threat happened. The school can either be proactive or reactive. It’s up to them. I think they should be proactive in the face of credible threats.
