I am not fond of Calipornia but there are good Americans among the liberals who suffer.

They can ask, but they have no chance so long as they are engaged in a war with one of their neighbors in a border dispute. Itās also doubtful that unanimous approval (a requirement) of the member countries would be forthcoming even if they hadnāt started this war. If they had been smart, they should have worked toward NATO membership when Gorbachev first brought it up. Then they might have stood a ghost of a chance at becoming a member if they wanted it. At this point it will probably take several generations of rational, civil, leadership to get over the damage Putin has caused, to get back to where they were under Gorbachev.

Ask the ghost of Gaddafi how his deals with the US and the UK worked out. NATO is more than happy to find a pretext to attack other nations.

I would not be surprised if the Russians effectively released a dirty bomb on western Ukraine by blowing up depots with the depleted uranium ammunition from the UK.
Of course, the party line from London and Kyiv has been that depleted uranium poses essentially zero health threat. They would have a hard time complaining that the recent strikes pose a health danger, even if civilians in the area are in serious danger.
Anything is a possibility.
The storm shadow cruise missiles present a huge problem for Russia because now Ukraine can target positions almost anywhere in the areas Russia is occupying. Russia now has to think very carefully where they locate military headquarters, barracks, ammo and fuel supplies, etc.
You know come to think of itā¦Russia could just leave.

NATO poses no offensive threat whatsoever to Russia as long as they donāt do things like invade their neighbors.
Gaddafi did not invade anyone. NATO attacked Libya anyway and plunged the country into over a decade of civil war and economic collapse.
NATO ceased to be a defensive alliance after the end of the Cold War.
The most logic approach for the Russians would be to attack the missiles in depots in western Ukraine or to strike missile sites before the missiles can launch.
As far as responding to NATO directly, it makes more sense for Russia to support more vigorous attacks on US and UK forces in Syria than do anything in Europe. Of course, the US and UK could just leave Syria . . .
