Will Ukraine's "D-Day" bring an end to Russia's invasion?

What is now western Ukraine was not part of the Holodomor since was part of Poland from 1921 until WW2. From the late 1700’s until WW1, the region, known as Galicia, was under the control of Austria.

Austrian rule had been relatively benign compared to the brutal Soviet occupation of 1939-1941.

Not all of it but yes the 1939 invasion was another reason for them to side with the Nazis.

People like bendera were born in galitisia

The current war has nothing to do with WW2 guys sorry, I know it’s fun to picture the panzers fanning out across Russia, the Americans landing on D-Day, the anti air guns firing at kamikazes pilots trying to dive into ships etc…. but this conflict isn’t that. Matter of fact WW2 is the only WW2.

Yup- it looks like there is a complete breakdown between Russian armed forces and the Wagner forces with infighting and a complete lack of coordination. This comes on the tail end of Prigozhin talking about evacuation of the area and the potential start of the counteroffensive.

We will see in the coming days if this starts to really change the direction of things in Bakhmut.

Wagner really needed that one T-34 from the victory day parade. I wonder why Putin wouldn’t send it.

She said “the few” i was not responding to anything you said.

As in the few he met. It’s a public forum. You are welcome.

Most people as individuals are good. That doesn’t mean they won’t kill you for their country.

Come on Samm.

Yes … C’mon. I expect the vast majority of those Russians in Ukraine are good people when not invading their neighbors, even many who committed atrocities on the civilian population.

Samm we were talking about ethnic russians who moved here. You really have russian daddy issues i hate to say.

They are the same people. They just live in a different location.

Where I grew up, Russian culture was prominent. My youngest nephew is married to a Russian woman. Don’t talk to me about Russian daddy issues … whatever that is.

You know the region and people there, my friend.

Thank you for all your comments. Unfortunatley the arms centric warhawks are trying to live in the past.

Where they get their justifcations from, i do not know.

We have seen it with how they western colonialists treated asians, Polynesians, indians (American and South American), et al…

peaceful solutions may have been achieved if the One Horse Dog Face Pony Soldier was a real leader and if others were not jockeying their agendas.

We are now getting someplace, Samm. Lets keep this conversation going. Russian (daddy issues) ethnic russian hatred. That is not what i expected.

First one has to get the conversation right.

I don’t know where you thought we were going. I have never expressed any hatred for the Russian people.

Russians in Ukraine are good people when not invading their neighbors, even many who committed atrocities on the civilian population.

Sounds like the ethnic russian Ukrainians are not your favorite. I talk about the good decent innocent ethnic Ukrainians and ethnic Russian Ukrainians who are caught in the middle of this chaotic war.

I am not picking sides. War could have been avoided if there were some real leaders. Now we have go with the Chinese who may broker a deal. I was hoping the Pope could do it.

Abd i do pray for the inncent Ukrainians and Russians every day. Innocent folks caught in the middle.
