that simply is not true. 95 % of those killed by COVID are over the age of 50. What about those people in lower age groups who have co-morbidities such as diabetes, heart disease, or pulmonary diseases who like my wife live a usually normal life, now all of a sudden are in high risk at age 55 and one lung and Afib.
Even though the majority of COVID cases are people under the age of 50…95% of those who die form it are over the age of 50. That is the age of many parents with second or third born kids in college now.
The problem as I see it that most facebook or forum epidemiologists don’t dig down deep into the resource…they take stupid stuff they have heard and call it fact.
I know that this is from November 2020…but these numbers haven’t changed drastically. I know more people who are in their 20s and 30s who have COVID than I do that are in their 50s and 60s.
I think one of the reasons for this is that those of us who are over 50, have taken precautions more seriously than those who are younger.
You sit here and talk about you haven’t seen long term effects yet you ask what does long haulers mean. You say there haven’t been any long term effects of those requiring hospitalization…there indeed have been. There are people who months later are having lung issues, or heart issues requiring treatment and hospitalizations for treatment.
Long Haulers are people who have long lasting effects from the worst of the COVID virus infections. I currently have a guy who was in the hospital for 50 days and we check him weekly for long term issues. Thankfully he’s one of the lucky ones. My neighbor who had COVID really bad back in March of last year, had long term effects all the way through September of this year. And she had to do routine medical visits with a pulmonologist and Cardiologist.
And with as many as 4 or 5 different variant’s getting a foothold. The Chinese Flu…as you wrongly call it…as it’s not an influenza (the biggest mistake Trump made was calling it this…because people decided that that made it less dangerous). I still worry that this is going to have one more wave. After weeks of watching Rate of Transmission hover right around .74 to .78…over the last week in my state that Rt has come up to .91…it’s still lower than 1.0 but this is a trend that I do not like to see…it could be signaling another wave…It is right about time for the 4th wave if my daily positivity graph pans out…we have had two waves now that were an increase for about two months, than a negative wave where the numbers decrease for about two and a half to three months and then into another wave. I am starting to see numbers increase slightly. By the end of the Month we will know for sure if we are in a 4th wave.
I had a meeting today with our SR. Management team. All of us except one person have been fully vaccinated…and the one guy, my direct boss, thinks this is all still a hoax and he’s not putting a vaccine into his body. So I kept my mask on…to protect him.
I think they new they were losing all credibility by keeping the rules as they were. More people were starting to ignore them. Neanderthal states were opening and people are flocking to them.
Sorry that you are so scared of this. Its really too bad that you come in contact with patients, cause spreading your fear is far worse than what the Chinese flu could ever do.
