Kavenaugh’s accusers have been using the 2 terms as the same definition, so he’s not lying when he denies blacking out. They’ve alleged that he would lose control/black out, as being unconscious.
Blacking out means not at all recalling situations at a later date. It’s like sleepwalking, upon waking up, one has no recollection of the sleepwalking incident.
