Where did Angels come from?

This is really a straightforward question:

Where did Angels come from? The Bible tells us of the different kinds of Angels, the Cherubim, the Seraphim and the Archangels, but not how or when they came into existence.

Thoughts?

Nehemiah 9:6 says this.

“You are the Lord, you alone; you have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host . . . and the host of heaven worships you”

So quite obviously in the Hebrew Mythos…angels were created by God.

Also quite obviously it wasn’t important enough to know when, how or where they were created…or at least important enough to have been written down in their main Scriptures.

What’s interesting is they were created as a hierarchy. Why several kinds of angels instead of just one kind - all equal?

They have different functions. Good question though, why the heirarchy. Does God place a higher value on one function over another? And then, it would be interesting to know if Lucifer was the only archangel to rebel, which is why he is the leader of the rebellion, or are there other Archangels among the rebellion?

But they were created before man came on the scene. Why do you think?

Satan is a fallen angel.

Most likely Satan been around before creation of humanity.

In a dream, angels were located in heaven

Genesis 28:12
New American Standard Bible

12 He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

…

They have their own domain

Jude 6
New American Standard Bible

6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,

…

Some interpretations say that this verse means that God created angels (sons of God) before God created the heaven and earth

Job 38:4-7
New American Standard Bible

4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell Me, if you [a]have understanding,

5 Who set its measurements? Since you know.
Or who stretched the line on it?

6 “On what were its bases sunk?
Or who laid its cornerstone,

7 When the morning stars sang together
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Something a little off the topic of the original question.

In the second chapter of Hebrews, St. Paul cites Psalm 8:

“What is man that you are mindful of him,
a son of man that you care for him?
You made them a little lower than the angels; … "

Mankind, in this life, do not hold all the benefits that the angels do in Heaven. Jesus points that out as well. " At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." (MT 22:30. MK 12:25.)

But in this life, humans have a gift that the angels do not have in Heaven – Humans get to participate in the reproduction of his own kind.

There’s a theory that the Old Testament giants were offspring of demons and human women. I have never accepted this for the reason you gave. Angels don’t marry or reproduce, yet the myth continues.

Also, we here if “guardian angels” that watch over us.

What do you believe about these two ideas?

Angels are physical beings, kind of like us.

How so? And how can they be identified?

Because they came down to Earth and had children with human women.

As Guvnah pointed out from the Bible:

At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." (MT 22:30. MK 12:25.)

I’m referring to events thousands of years before the New Testament was written.

Genesis 6:1-4
6 When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with[a] humans forever, for they are mortal[b]; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

And before Genesis was written there were stories of old when people believed their great leaders here on earth became Gods after they died. Legends grew up around them. The story of the sons of Gods in these stories were the human sons of their (once) human leaders, and some of these sons found the daughters of men (read ‘born on the wrong side of the tracks’) very beautiful. The bastard children were pretty much rejected by both their elite and commoner families. (Tale as old as time.)

As I recall, the Nephilim were the great warriors–giants among men, one might say. Numbers has a tale that beside them the spies of the Israelite army felt as small and as impotent as grasshoppers and even ants. They were like these bugs that crawled into the Nephilim’s discarded pomegranate shells, so much so that all twelve spies could crawl into one discarded shell. (Can we say low self esteem and physical weakness as compared to those with great confidence and were truly physically fit?)

They maybe fallen angels that try to pollute the gene pool of the lineage that God plan to use for Christ “immaculate conception”.

That’s one reason for the flood to eliminate this perversion in the gene pool and start over.

The stories in Genesis come directly from the Sumerian traditions. Father Abraham was a Sumerian, son of a wealthy merchant and nephew of a noble priest. He passed the stories on orally after leaving home, and that continued through his descendants until it was written down.

The Sumerians believed in a very literal sense that the Anunnaki came from another planet.

There was another perversion in the gene pool - “original sin.”

Too bad God didn’t eliminate all mankind and start completely over. That would have solved the problem entirely…

Job said the angels were there from the very beginning. also in Genesis god say let us make man in our image. he is not using royal pronouns there.
angels except cherubim and the beasts around the throne are all human looking, androgynous males of an apparent age of mid 20s to thirties.
Angel means messenger. Jesus taught to be kind to strangers because they may secretly be angels. he also said women should (metaphorically only) wear a veil for the angels sake (or because of the angels.) He said the latter days will be as it was in the time of Noe (Noah in greek) which was a time when a rebellious order of angels were taking and mating with human women.

Basically with exceptions; angels may be mistaken for ordinary humans. and as the term means “messenger” any spirit in heaven can be sent to earth as an angel. it is not just rare members among God’s children of the first election who were not caused to incarnate in the flesh. excepting cherubim and the beasts, -angels are just people.
