I mean, sure. It provided a process by which conceivably slavery might be outlawed if enough people wanted it. That generic reality applies to a host of things.

However, that’s decidedly not what the founding fathers were intending.

Are you suggesting grade school children are not given the impression that our founders embraced slavery when they emphasize, Jefferson, Washington, James Madison, etc. all had slaves? What is ignored is, just prior to the Revolutionary War the above founding fathers and their slaves were living under the heel of King George, which Jefferson blamed the institution of slavery on in the Declaration of Independence.
