What will happen to MAGA in 2029?

will he still have his rallies in 2028 to promote the GOP candidate who wins the primaries.

Allan

I was thinking the same thing. Time will tell.

Best President of my lifetime and probably since Lincoln.

I’ll miss him myself.

I will not go back to voting for establishment (swamp creatures) nominees who usually can’t win anyway.

Rubio i could possibly support as well as Vance.

He likes the dopamine from rallies. If he can raise money from them, he will.

He was fundraising for his campaign.

Do you honestly believe a multi-billionaire needs those paltry rally receipts as a civilian?

I think that was more true in his first term. He has hollowed out the GOP establishment decisively.

Who are we talking about? For example, the head of the RNC now is Michael Whatley, a devoted MAGA 2020 election denier. John Thune may be marginally less enthralled while still being terrified of the base.

money is just a proxy for power. A Trump PAC for 2028 is very appealing to him I’d imagine.

I’m all for it because it means a significant percentage of money will get siphoned off from actual GOP candidates.

Republicans are afraid of the GOP base. Democrats are afraid of the GOP base. No one is afraid of the progressive Democratic base, which is why they get punched, not appeased.

If funds from the PAC are used to help finance GOP campaigns, wouldn’t that be seen as a good thing?

from the perspective of Trump absolutely, he gets to rally around the country for campaign season and also anoint those he can influence with gobs of money.

Huh? Republicans are afraid of their own base. You are making no sense.

They should be.

I don’t know about punching, but Republicans do like to laugh and make fun of them.

Absolutely. :moneybag:

I mean that the overwhelming majority of elected Republicans are far more concerned about getting primaried by someone Trumpier than getting primaried by the next Jon Huntsman.

According to many posts in 2020, by now he was supposed to have lost all his money and be in jail. I don’t get my predictions here.

I agree about predictions. But a US president going to jail is a major, unprecedented event requiring a million moving parts and contingencies.

In contrast, the idea that Trump will continue to raise money from the rallies that he clearly enjoys is hardly going out on a limb.

I am curious how Trump will react once the first Democrat announces they are running for POTUS in 2028. Could be as soon as early next year. He won’t be able to run again (or will he?) but all that dopamine surging attention is going to fall away from him, even if for a moment.

That will be interesting. Imagine him seeing another run for President, holding rallies, getting poll numbers that no longer include him. You can almost hear the gears grinding and sparking.

Look at how they just ooze with hate while fantasizing about Trump being the miserable one.

I see no DEM out there who would be anything more than a yawner. Trump will remain center of attention.

Trump would simply hold his own rallies to spite any DEM wannabee. He would make it very clear that no DEM would be able to begin to compete with him when it comes to rally sizes.

Unless you are a moderate Democrat. I get why the Democrats fear the Republican base, it’s growing, while theirs is shrinking.
