What is the trend?

It’s a ctitique on their rational for supporting the politician named Donald Trump, and treating him as a savior to our country.

Hell they are almost literally saying it this election cycle how there’s “no turning back”.

Despite all of Trump’s transgressions, from running a fraudulent university, to cheating on his wife with a porn star, paying her off and lying about it, to disregarding intelligence on Russia, to making fun of POW, etc etc it goes on and on… (oh and birtherism), nepotism in the WH, personally benefiting millions from campaign donations…endless

That some people still view Trump as the greatest thing to ever happen to this country.

That level of support is worship-like and thus the critique of said worship

Honestly, sneaky, this is getting so convoluted and twisted.

It’s just an internet message board. It’s being overthunk.

What’s wrong with that? We were accused of having a messiah for 8 years. I dont think we ever ran a campaign on the board to tell people to stop cause it hurt our feelings

Our current POTUS does faaaaaarr worse in his rhetoric about other people he disagrees with and yet that gets defended 24/7 here. This isn’t a pre-school we are all adults.

You can rationalize it to yourself anyway you want to. The impact of it is, when done as I have described, to demean a member by using their belief system as a weapon against them.

Now you are lower looping.

I have explained our position, answered every question I have been asked (I believe) and given you the guidance you need to proceed.

I am going to step away for 2 minutes. If there is nothing else, I will close the thread.

I think you are both A simply misinterpreting the critique and 2 ignoring the fact that many on the right let their belief system be the #1 mode of how they decide right and wrong. Ex: evangelicals. So by that rule we are no longer allowed to say that an evangelical is being hypocritical if they support an immoral action by Trump?

This is pretty weak. Like I said before it reeks of religious right cancel culture.

If conservatives are going to preach their religion as a means to stop gay marriage, abortion, maintain family values, etc etc, then we have every right to call out their inconsistencies of application

Depends on context. Political forum likely not.

mes·si·ah

noun

the promised deliverer of the Jewish nation prophesied in the Hebrew Bible.

*** 2. **

a leader or savior of a particular group or cause.

"he was regarded as a messiah by liberal and conservatives alike"

We are in agreement. The definite article “the” and adjective “your” narrow down the context some in common American usage, do they not?
