What happens when NY's Marxist dream turns into a nightmare?

obviously not. you dont want to finance free child care for working parents.

Allan

did you read the link.

promise kept.

Allan

Not wanting to pay for the care of your children is not holding childcare in high regard. Everything worthwhile does not have to be free to be worthwhile.

care care is expensive. working families cant afford it.

hence mandani’s election

you still dont get the affordability thing.

Alla

Who said it would be a utopia. Mamdani has never promised that. All he wants to do is try and make NYC better. Maybe he will fail but maybe he will succeed.

As for taxes, childcare is something the middle classes will benefit from. Many of those who are considered middle class are in that bracket because both parents work and they pay out a huge chunk on childcare like anyone else who is working and has children. This is the norm today just like back in the 50s/60s and into the 70s it was the norm for the mother to stay at home. We can argue whether thats good or bad but regardless the reality is today the majority of families need to have both parents working.

Yep, free ■■■■■

You always get the lemmings when you offer things for free that others have to provide for you.

Those others get tired of supporting everyone else while also trying to survive.

another MAGA not understanding the affordability crisis.

Allan

I understand it. I just don’t think I need to be supporting everyone else with my money. We all have problems. We all have financial issues at times. Some of us live within our means, don’t take out never ending car loans to keep up with the neighbors, have to have the latest whatever and then bitch because we can’t buy groceries or care for our kids.

People’s priorities have changed.

obviously you dont.

you are railing against spending Taxpayer money to address a key issue for working parents.

Allan

I disagree with your whole premise. Doesn’t mean I don’t understand it.

Man, I wish conservatives would pick a lane. One minute it’s don’t be having kids you can’t afford. The next it’s complaining that people aren’t having enough kids. The people not having kids feel they can’t afford them. Y’all should be ecstatic!

Sad little comment.

So I’m wrong?

Broadbrush all you want. Doesn’t make it true.

Hey, if you’re ok with people not having kids because they feel they can’t afford them then I’ll happily admit I’m wrong.

Please, continue. I said none of those things about having children.

since i pay new york state taxes. i am happy to pay for universal child care.

children are the future.

making their life easier (and to their parents) is a really good idea.

Allan

How progressive of you Alan.

Congratulations.

I understand affordability perfectly. I paid for everything I have and everything necessary to care for my children. It didn’t cost you one cent.

Free stuff makes a great campaign promise, but it’s a stupid way to govern.

Give up your $6 lattes, your $25 lunches and your on-line entertainment subscriptions and you’ll probably be able to afford taking care of your own kids. It astounds me what people these days believe are essential expenditures. Learn to live within your means, and don’t expect to rely on my means.
