What Exactly Is “Juneteenth”?

Looks like a lot of people got killed and shot. This “celebration” seems risky.

Come on man, don’t you know by now that only certain black lives matter! :man_shrugging:

Happy Juneteenth!

:tada:

As a half black man I’m pretty embarrassed that we couldn’t stop sliding on each other for just 24 hours to celebrate Juneteenth.

That’s why we can’t have nothing nice.

Would you say that most black people actually give a ■■■■ about Juneteenth, or is it just one of those things that people just automatically say they do? :man_shrugging:

The vast majority don’t care or even know about it.

I’m just embarrassed that we couldn’t stop sliding for 24 hours. Someone always has to ■■■■ stuff up.

We wonder why white folks don’t take us seriously. That’s one of the many reasons why. We can’t stop killing each other for just a day.

I mean, in fairness, white people don’t take each other too seriously most of the time either.

Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed.

Now consider all of the white lives lost in making this happen and let’s label it…“reparations”…K?

Speaking of this, I gotta say this is probably one of the most badass things ever.

“I demand you release those slaves!”

“Oh yeah? You and what army!?”

“FALL IN!”

Yes, and slaves in Delaware had another six months before they were freed. Slaves in border states had to wait until the proclamation of the ratification of the 13th Amendment on December 18, 1865.

December 18 would be reasonable date to celebrate. Alternatively, it would make sense to celebrate January 1, 1863, the effective date for the Emancipation Proclamation.

Celebrating on June 19 only makes sense if the primary purpose is either another day off in the summer or a way of downplaying Independence Day, which is two weeks later.

Another clear objective of the radical left and part of the “cultural revolution” agenda.

I am waiting for the ban on Independence Day since it celebrates a violent insurrection.

God save the queen, man!

Good salient points.

I would embrace an Emancipation Day holiday more enthusiastically.

I don’t think it matters much, not my day. I don’t necessarily like that it’s celebrated in contrast with Independence Day, but again, it’s not my day. I don’t think they care if white people give them a day either. They don’t need us to agree to let them have a day, kind of goes against the concept. I do wish we could be together on the fact that the emancipation, Juneteenth, and Independence Day were all good things that happened, not “bad because…” and that cuts both ways.

July 4th is the holiday. Everyone was a slave, never mind the color.

Everyone were serfs to a same diabolical forces of the power mad going back to everyone’s own historical tribes from other lands, down through time.

Real freedom and liberty was given by an inherent Supreme Law that promises a higher truth of enlightenment. The battle against the same forces of evil that enslave all people in their minds and hearts began long ago.

I think “Juneteenth” is a slap in the face from the same evil tribal lords that rule from their murderous seats in hell. The world is not yet paradise.

My favorite part of Juneteenth is when Democrats virtue signal and pander about it on twitter only to have their replies flooded with, “Everyone loves celebrating Republicans freeing the Democrats slaves.”

Back when the Lord was engaged in His earthly ministry it is said that some pharisees carried little horns to toot when they were giving alms or that they knew just how to throw money into the treasury so it would make the most noise, virtue signaling is the same: “look at me! See how great I’m.” Only now “please don’t hurt me for not conforming!” may as well be added when considering the woke.

Emancipation Day has a very patriotic ring to it.
