What Does Your Political Compass Look Like These Days?

The Forum Posts of Yesteryear were mentioning some names that reminded me of @peek-a-boo 's avatar. There used to be other posters who also used their political compass as their avatar, but even I’m getting fuzzy memories on who they were.

I took the online quiz here:

I’m not as far to the right as I used to be, but still as close to the horizontal line as I’ve ever been. Must be all the pot I get to smoke now.

Some of the questions felt pretty loaded though.

Can’t figure out how to show the chart, but:

Economic Left/Right: 0.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.62

Lot of always/never type absolutes in the questions…which means ■■■■■■■■■

I took a screenshot of mine and edited it down.

One of the questions asked me if I think religious values should be taught in school. Which ones? Thou shalt not kill, or smite the Infidel wherever you find him?

It’s a. crap test. No nuances just pidgeon hole extremes. I disagree with it all

It had me down as a slightly left of center Libertarian. I disagree with all the questions and answers.

This proposition: "I’d always support my country, whether it was right or wrong. "

There is no “it depends” option. USA is wrong on some thing now. I’m not going to leave because of that. But if our government started an sort of “ethnic cleansing” of liberals (as much as I disagree with them!), I could no longer support our country.

"Charity is better than social security as a means of helping the genuinely disadvantaged. "

Who wrote this test?

Social Security doesn’t exist as a means of helping the genuinely disadvantaged. Welfare is for that.

use to be further left. some of my views have moderated over the years.

Eh that’s about right I guess. I’m assuming the questions about how the rich are taxed probably effected it a lot.

You’ll need to scroll down further to see your actual score. That’s part of the explanation on how they test.

You’re right. I screwed up.

That’s better.

Things I would not have guessed: I am far more libertarian than most here.

Economic: -5
Libertarian: -8.9

(in comparison, the economic axis is not surprising in the least.)

About the same as twenty years ago.

That’s what I’m getting at with these questions. Would I like “religious” values such as don’t kill your neighbors or don’t take their ■■■■ taught in school…yeah, I don’t have an issue with that. But crap like “stone the the slut”, “y’all cant eat filthy animals”…not so much.

yeah, some of the questions are not very “complete”

only on a scale of “feel good” is it possible to be an economic leftist and libertarian

My analysis of the test

The further left you go on the social scale, the more “libertarian” you are
The further right you go on the economic scale, the less “libertarian” you are

I am what I have always been, leaning toward a more antifederalist view and a more libertarian federal government (with a conservative bent)

i am an economic leftist and civil libertarian.

of course it is possible.

you just dont get it.

understandable.

Allan

Ours is almost the same

a “civil libertarian” is just a liberal. You’re just a leftist.

You think supporting federal abortion mandates is libertarian? Its not
You think banning marriage for anybody is libertarian? its not
You think the fed gov telling states how to draw district lines is libertarian? Its not
You think zoning laws are libertarian? they’re not
You think mandating EV’s is libertarian? It’s not
You think laws preferring one race over others is libertarian? Its not

I went there and if I wanted to take the test in Turkish there is a link, but all I get when clicking the Take the Test link is a re-direct to a list of foreign countries.
