The more proper question is “Was he referencing all white people”?
Was he referencing anybody other than white people?
And the social media carnage continues into the second day. Arguments which barely withstand the friendly environment of a republican forum are thrown into the general conversation like oxygen tanks into a flame.
Definition of racism
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
That’s a long way from what that guy said.
So what, no one I hang out with uses the phrase, so to me it’s not common, it’s extremely rare. Like I said, why should we use Google to decide what words should be a part of our vernacular?
And in the world of those people wearing their rage-tinted glasses, where anything a person says is a potential slur, no matter how benign, it’s a grave insult if someone calls a woman “she,” and they should be fired from their job. I’m done entertaining all the easily offended twits.
Nice try… I didn’t ask for the textbook definition of racism. I aske what was considered racist in real life
Very informative. Thank you.
Something completely obvious to the easily offended. Like if a parent were to come home from work, and there was a birthday party going on in his house with a bunch of screaming five years olds. And the parent blurts out “it sounds like a barrel full of monkeys in here,” and one or more of the kids is not white. Duh-da…dummmmmmm.
They think it makes them look edgy and non PC. Kinda pathetic actually.
Ahh you can’t take this serious I see lol. Proving my point
here’s an idea for you TM, next time Desantis says his monkey phrase you can post it on youtube and cite it as evidence he says it all the time. That’s what you did when Trump mocked the disabled, worked like a charm.
A general rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t be more outraged at a comment than the target of said comment. If Gillum took it personally then it should matter, but if he didn’t then we can let it go on a moral level. What’s incredible is these supposed adults pretending they’ve never heard the term monkey in any racist connotation before. It’s embarrassing.
I like how they’re ignoring the actual African Americans posting in this thread saying it’s offensive. I’m more sure than ever that the response to an “N-word” tape will be “I’m not offended by it, I don’t understand why anyone else is. You’re just playing the race card!”
Your defense here is “Its not offensive because it’s a common phrase that isn’t actually that common.”
Do you realize how stupid that sounds?
Well the way Trump mocked that disabled journalist was abominable whether the journalist was outraged or not, so I can’t say that I agree with your personal rule.
When I was 12, my mom explained to me that I shouldn’t say “gypped” because it’s a backhanded attack on gypsies. I was ■■■■■■■ 12 and I figured it out. Of course I got jewed out of a lot of life lessons later on.
Did you watch the MLB playoffs last year? Yuli Gurriel did the “Asian eyes” thing after facing Yu Darvish. It blew up into a big deal and he was suspended for the start of this season. This is what Darvish said:
No one is perfect.
That includes both you and I.
What he had done today isn’t right, but I believe we should put our effort into learning rather than accuse him. If we can take something from this, that is a giant step for mankind. Since we are living in such a wonderful world, let’s stay positive and move forward instead of focusing on anger. I’m counting on everyone’s big love.
I completely agree with this. Not everything is about ■■■■■■■ race. It’s like we are still in the 1950’s.
No, I don’t take seriously, the easily offended , and the politically motivated partisans, who make contrivances like this.
For the last time, just because a phrase someone else might use is not a part of your vernacular, does not mean that they are stupid for saying it’s a part of theirs.
DeSantis said “the last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting this state. That is not going to work. It’s not going to be good for Florida.”
Only a racist would transform DeSantis’ comment pertaining to a political-economic system into something about race. Downright imbecilic.
