WAR in Ukraine, Putin approves initiation of special military operation (Part 1)

And if they do this, hoping desperately that it doesn’t become the Charge of the Light Brigade against the Russian artillery. Nothing quickly breaks up an attack like massed artillery fire.

Yep. The only people who think this is about Ukraine wanting to join NATO are the Russian people who are being fed that story line by the Kremlin.

Biden has already told Xi that if we get wind of China assisting Russia with arms and/or money we will level trade sanctions on them. And I think that Xi will certainly pay attention to that. And if Putin can’t get the assistance he needs he will start running out of money to support his war. Recent studies say that the Ukraine was is now costing Russia about $20B per day. Russia ranks 11th in the world for GDP and have a economy roughly the size of Italy.

The only reason Putin doesn’t want countries on his border to belong to NATO is because it keeps his territorial ambitions alive without sparking WWIII. If he had no desire or intent to occupy those countries in exactly the same manner as he has Ukraine, there would be no down side for him if the did join NATO. In fact, it would probably make his country more secure because nobody could get to him without going through a NATO country.

My heart goes out to the innocents used as pawns by Zskyy.

Paper tiger growling at the Dragon. This is comical, Mr. Wazoo. Where do you get those notions?

And just when has Xi shown any indication that he even hears what Biden says, let alone cares?

Xi sure does not give a ■■■■ what the One Horse Dog Faced Pony Soldier says.

Here is an example of just how much Xi cares about what the US and the West say about things. Six Chinese heavy military transports just delivered Chinese medium range ADA systems to Serbia on Saturday (yesterday) Nothing like arming another flash point in Europe with one war already going. They didn’t move as single flights, they flew as a group in a military operation style delivery.

China makes semi-secret delivery of missiles to Serbia

I assume you meant to say possibly Minneapolis?

Even though China controls a lot of our debt, they also have a trade surplus. And the majority of their investments due to that surplus is in US Bonds. And we can control how much of them they could buy.
So there is that leverage. And Xi certainly did care when we leveled sanctions against them for human rights violations. And IMHO I think that Xi is concerned that some US companies could affect both trade and investments with China.

Looks like a new world order is emerging and the One Horse Dog Faced Pony Soldier and NATO hae window seats on this train(wreck).

More Grand notions, Bro‽

Just reacting to what I read about various subjects. We shall see how it all pans out.

Well, the next shoe is about to fall, and it isn’t going to land like it appears. They have about $262 (rounded up) in national debt, of which about 52 billion is held outside of Russia. They are going to default because the West won’t allow them to process the payments in dollars to the creditors outside of Russia. The Russian’s have the money, because of oil wealth, to make the interest payments, but the West won’t allow them to send the payment. All the cheerleaders will start chanting: great, serves you right, we will break you!, rah, rah, rah. And the Russian debt will become junk debt, trading at pennies on the dollar in Western markets, with everyone trying to dump it (except China). When the trading value bottoms, China will buy up the debt, at a steep discount to par value. Then they will work with Russia to refinance the portion of the debt they hold and take payments in oil, at a steep discount in price. This allows Chins to now get the oil as a debt payment from Russia, instead of having to exchange something with Russia for the oil. Meanwhile the original Western holders of the debt take a financial hit.

When you read this , do you pronounce it “zee-skee” in your head?

Very straight forward discussion of the real situation with the so-called “neo-nazis” in Ukraine.

maybe that was true about area fire techniques in 1917. or if russia actualy used mass firing techniques, they as far as i can see still employ area fire techniques. much less effective. and its not like the ukraine military doesn’t have its own artillery. why do you always discount what ukrainians can do and only seem to think about what the russians can do? bottom line, if ukraine doesn’t take back the south, they won’t get back the south. if they don’t disrupt the russian’s plans then they will be locked in to responding to russian plans. they can’t win that way.

negotiating for “peace” at this point would be tantamount to giving up the south of ukraine. it wouldn’t be “peace”, it would be surrender

lol… you think china takes brandon’s empty threats (for domestic consumption) seriously.

if he were serious, the sanctions would be tier three now.
