Technically yes every one of us should be happy slavery happened. It took everything in history happening exactly the way it happened for us to be here. Slavery was obviously evil but go back and in time and somehow poof it away and every person currently alive in the world ceases to exist. There will be other people it won’t be you, me, or anyone else currently living. Call it selfish but I like existing.
As to the officer in the OP. There are at any time 700,000 to 800,000 cops nationwide with at least 10% of that number constantly in flux with officers coming and going. Obviously in a group that large your going to find problems. Its how the problems are dealt with that count and this officer was immediately suspended and is currently in the process of being fired (they have to follow a legal process to fire someone).

Do you like existing or do you wish you had never been born? Because the latter is what happens if slavery doesn’t exist.
Lets go back to 1776 and lets say during the formation of the United States they outlaw slavery. After that not a single slave is ever owned or brought to America. If you can do that then every person currently living in the whole world is erased from existence as is everyone born after that change in the timeline. There will be people here but it won’t be anyone currently living.
Basically take away slavery and the timeline is so changed that your great great great great grandparents on all sides (however far back you have to go to get to the generation post 1776) likely never meet and if they do the timeline is certainly different enough that if they do still hook up and procreate it won’t be the same children being born as before. Which changes everything. Within a generation no one being born is the same as before and thus obviously will reproduce all new people. As such we all cease to exist as our ancestors never existed.
So yes I’m happy that everything in history, both good and bad, prior to my being born happened exactly the way it happened because otherwise I’m not here. Nor are you or anyone else who will spout outrage over this because they haven’t thought the science of what I’m saying through.

Insistence on a prohibition against slavery in 1776 would have meant there would have been no United States at all. The handful of Northern anti slavery Colonies would have been defeated.
