How would it not? If Russia really wants to destroy us, and they could convince our own President to alienate our allies and foster further distrust in us how is that not a huge win for them exactly? Then lay the blame solely at the feet of the incompetent President claiming he put out the order merely to distract from his impeachment, adding that he was gullible enough to be tricked by his own intelligence agencies. Seems pretty ■■■■■■■ brilliant, honestly.

Oh I’m totally spitballing. I’m just saying I think it’s possible. I don’t know how likely. I think the timing (and the wording) of the Russian media release is highly questionable and shouldn’t be taken at face value. Just as the tweets from Pence that are the topic of this thread shouldn’t be. Governments lie. Russian media is still state owned, isn’t it? That would make them a mouthpiece for the Russian government.
