USAToday: 450 arrested in immigration raid at Hyundai plant site in Georgia

DHS said in an email that Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicial search warrant for an ongoing criminal investigation for alleged unlawful employment practices and other federal crimes. . . .

The law enforcement action took place at the HL-GA battery plant’s construction site, she said. “We are cooperating with law enforcement and are committed to abiding by all labor and immigration regulations.”
Mary Beth Kennedy, a spokesperson for the HL-GA Battery Company, said in a statement that the company was “cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities regarding activity at our construction site.”

“To assist their work, we have paused construction,” Kennedy said. “We do not have further details at this time."

Reading between the lines it appears the employer (construction company) is the target. I hope the bastards lose everything.

Let them and their kids grow up as poor as the Ameican familes they victimize every day.

The construction company should be heavily fined!

But who will build the EV battery plants…

That is crazy and unacceptable to ignore labor law. Where is the UAW denouncing the cheap and exploitive labor.

I’m thinking asset forfeiture and class action lawsuit too.
Every unemployed contruction worker in Georgia should get to sue tehm for a years wages plus damages.

If there is anyting left every peneny of their ill gotten gain, their homes their cars all of it should be seized ans sold at auction.

Take everygting they own. Leave them completely broke.

RICO requires at least two predicate crimes (racketeering acts) within a 10-year period.

  • Once convicted, the government can seize any assets connected to the racketeering activity.

  • This includes real estate, bank accounts, vehicles, and even business interests.

  • Under RICO asset forfeiture, personal assets—like homes, cars, jewelry, or even business interests—can absolutely be seized if they were purchased with proceeds from racketeering activity.

First, it should be proven that the company deliberately hired people who are here illegally.

Then I agree they should be hammered for it.

Aww, that’s too bad.

The first one arrested should be the owner of the company that hired them.

They shouldn’t have to prove intent, just negligence. No chance 450 get arrested if they made any effort to determine legal status.

They were just doing jobs Americans wouldn’t do!

I see your point, especially if it was only a few. Claiming negligence on 450 seems like it could cross the line into deliberate.

It should also be proven that all 450 are here illegally as well.

In any case, they should be required to prove all of it.

The owners of the company should face heavy fines and imprisonment.

We all know if those at the top faced repercussions this business practices would soon stop.

Yes they all claim it was bad actors in their org and they were not aware but thats ■■■■■■■■■ They take all the credit when a business is doing well so let them take the flack when the reverse happens.

We’ll see how often business owners get charged, especially if they are DJT donors.

building a plant for a Korean company… how do you suppose they got here? Hyundai is in it up to their neck. Probably hired their own construction company and set up a temp agency to filter the workers through

Biden stopped sending out e-verify reports. And it doesn’t stop this, it just makes it more complicated.
