US citizen jailed at Canadian border

CNN

An American citizen says he and his wife were detained for hours by US border agents when they returned to the United States after a short trip to Canada.

Bachir Atallah told CNN he and his wife, Jessica, were driving back into the US Sunday evening after visiting family in Canada for the weekend when U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents stopped them for a secondary inspection at the Highgate Springs checkpoint in Vermont.

Atallah, who is originally from Lebanon, said he was told to park his Range Rover and hand over his keys. When he asked the officer why, the officer placed his hand on his gun and told him to exit his vehicle, Atallah said. He said he was then handcuffed and led into a cell, where his belongings were confiscated. He said his wife was put into a cell across from his.

Handcuff and thrown in a cell. Held them for about 5 hours.

It’s definitely a repetitive tantrum happening. We’re only 3 months in. Some of them aren’t going to survive their own personality flaws.

I think he was being sarcastic.

What’s crazy about this to me is there is a right way to do this. And they are totally just taking the lazy way out in every scenario.

Every time someone is stopped to go through a check, are we going to have a new thread?
I once took a walk at night and a cop stopped me, took my wallet, and did a check on his radio. Don’t I get a thread?

Maybe. How long were you detained?

Maybe 12 minutes. What’s the minimum for a thread?

And mildly bitter. Though I do agree in the general sense that every instance is getting at least some…internet…attention now when it wouldn’t before. And maybe it should have before too.

I’ll check with the rest of the gang to make sure but i think that 12 minutes is probably too low.

At least 25 minutes.

Sorry, Doug

Cruelty is the point. That is what Authortatrian governments do.

12 minutes might fly if the cops were extremely ill tempered and Doug can make a nice story out of it.

you can see what they’re doing. they have their orders

We are getting heavily amplified focus on the exception cases. Not EVERY SCENARIO.

Don’t let the media lead you by the nose ring intended to agitate the libs.
