The craziness of this era is fascinating. It shows us what average citizens are willing to do if a person arrives on the scene and promises them 1 or 2 things.
Thatâs exactly the point, American law allows asylum seekers from near and far. And they are sometimes granted asylum based upon their circumstances. Some are granted and some are denied.
Exactly the way the was intended to work.
The poll shows that President Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.
A survey from Harvard-Harris Poll provided exclusively to The Hill found that 80 percent of voters say local authorities should have to comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come into contact with.
As it stands, hundreds of cities across the nation - many with Democratic mayors or city councils - are refusing to do so.
Asylum assumes that the person requesting is being politically or socially oppressed or they are civilians caught in an active war zone.
None of these migrants really fit that criteria. Being in poverty isnât grounds for asylum. If so there are some places in the United States that need the attention first.
The individual needs to make the case for why they need asylum. Either they are being oppressed for the race, politics, or religion or they are caught in the crossfire between two warring factions.
If they show that to be the case, great. Let them in. If they are requesting asylum because of poverty, sorry thatâs not a good enough reason for me. There are millions of Americans in poverty right now. They come first.
