We have not direct control over Putin. On the other hand, the elected government the US should be responsible to American voters.
Why has our government been funding biolabs that handle extremely dangerous pathogens in a place as unstable as Ukraine?
Anthrax and tularemia are diseases of livestock that are deadly in humans and can be used in bioterrorism.
A leak of a disease that can be spread between humans could result in a world-wide pandemic that could kill Americans.
Ukraine was pretty stable until two weeks ago when Russia started to blow the everliving crap out of the place.
Now there is this deep deep concern that the labs that they had to study pathogens… something that nearly every country in the world has… are of concern because the Russians are blowing the everliving crap out of the country and it is somehow the fault of Ukraine.
Seriously… why do this?

The publicly available details are buried in government grants that may go through third parties. Look how long it has taken to find out about US funds that went to the Wuhan lab.
Classified programs can be hidden completely.
