U.S. will start buying oil to refill Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Like all good traders, Mr Biden has turned volatility into profit. In 2022, when he released 180m barrels of crude—or one-third of America’s stockpile—he sold at an average of $95 a barrel. In July last year, when the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) benchmark was at $67 a barrel, he began to refill the reserve. The president has replaced about one-fifth of what he sold, posting a profit of $582m, and has managed to time the market to perfection.

Bidennnn!!! :joy:

Trump wanted to buy more oil for the reserve when it was about $35 a barrel. Democrats in Congress would not allow the funds, claiming Trump just wanted to help the oil companies out.
Biden big oil trader….joke?

Sorry. Forgot we are only allowed to praise Biden.

You didn’t criticize Biden. You brought up Trump and then mentioned that Biden being anything positive is a joke

It’s sad.

BUT…it does suck that they blocked Trump, it was pennies on the dollar

Absolutely sad, that Biden being anything positive can only be a joke.

Sucks, having to defend that, eh?

Considering what Trump wanted to do was the right thing and the libs just couldn’t have that so they nixed it, now we are stuck with paying more under Biden and we are supposed to wave the flag and cheer?

Dems hatred for Trump blinds them to doing anything good for the nation because their goal is nothing more than stick it to Trump no matter how bad it is overall for the people or the country. I’m not praising having to spend more under BIden because dems governed/voted against good policy based on the butt hurt level they were feeling at the time.

Yes all true.

It was all more expensive.

Of course you are not praising. Nobody was expecting anything different.

Well, I don’t do dem Bidonomics math where an item was $1.65, went up to $5.65 and then went down to $3.87 and then expect everyone to applaud how much money they have saved by the decrease from $5.65 to $3.87.

Wait are you talking about oil or gasoline?

We are at record oil production (not because of Biden). The oil reserve doesn’t effect cost at the pump

If you were just using a parralel then sorry

Neither. It was a general observation of the stupidity of people trying to tell everyone inflation isn’t happening or has gone down.

Sorry, but Trump didn’t fill the reserve.

From the source:

“…2017 HURRICANE HARVEY EXCHANGE
When Harvey made landfall on the night of August 25, it was a Category 4 storm—the strongest hurricane to impact Texas in more than 50 years. The impacts of Hurricane Harvey were widespread. And at one point, much of the Gulf region’s oil refining capability was shut down, resulting in fuel shortages. Following the hurricane, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry authorized the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to establish exchange agreements with affected refiners who requested emergency crude from the Reserve. Though Hurricane Harvey prompted the evacuation of some SPR personnel, the Reserve continued to operate under emergency conditions and supplied much-needed oil to refiners. By September 28, a total of 5.2 million barrels of oil from the SPR had been delivered to Gulf Coast refineries, helping to continue their processing operations and prevent further supply disruptions. All of the oil was repaid, including premium barrels, by February 2018…”

That is not filling up a depleted reserve at all.

There was also a series of sales during the Trump admin to keep supplies fresh, then replenished.

I don’t know where you get this info from.

Takes a real idiot to buy into that!!

then why did Biden raid it?

“WASHINGTON – The Biden administration said Tuesday it is releasing 1 million barrels of gasoline from a Northeast reserve established after Superstorm Sandy in a bid to lower prices at the pump this summer.“

That is an epic about face…again.

I did notice retail prices tick back up after slowly dropping the previous 2 weeks negating the slight drop.
