Truss has, in a matter of weeks, set Labour up for a 400+ seat government

So Sunak who lost the leadership contest is not leader and PM LOL.

This man who is incredibly wealthy is now going to explain to the poorest in our society on benefits as well as those who work and are struggling to pay their mortgages and utility bills that they need to tighten their belts further.

Could be worse. Look at us.

British politics are WAY different than our politics here in the states.

He is also very short.

They are farther left it strikes me. I used to listen to them debate.

How long can the Tories hold out before having to hold an election? Your unwritten constitution is big on the mandate from the people thing in Parliament, right?

The tories are also much further left than either major party in the United States.

Politics there are just fundamentally different than politics here.

The Tories are to the right of the Democrats

They still support the NHS as national policy though right?

That’s why I always considered them left of the US Democratic Party.

But considering how much politics has… devolved worldwide over the past 20 years it wouldn’t surprise me.

Like you say, it doesnt really map well to US politics.

Universal healthcare is a non issue over here.

As are gun laws and abortion access.

The Tories just repeared the Kansas experienent, with the same result.

They are small government, cut the welfare state, I’m alright Jack right wingers.

I was just typing up something similar but as usual you are far more eloquent than my cack handed delivery LOL.

The two countries might share a common language and a ā€œspecial relationshipā€ but have very different cultures both socially and politically.

It’s still early for you over there, yet to get into your stride.

I’ve already had four coffees today so I’m peaking.

Be nice to the Aussies.

They just got humbled by the Kiwis in the cricket and soon their entire country will be on fire.

Very much so.

But eh that makes our relationship very interesting.

Plus you never know when the Emus may restart the old Emu Wars.

TBF Mother Nature has been waging ceaseless war against the Aussies from day 1.

Literally every living thing over there is actively trying to kill them.

I love the Aussies. No country can be all bad when half of their national heroes are crooks and not like Al Capone crooks but the small-time Outback version of project stickup kids.

I don’t claim to understand a thing about cricket except I know it’s roughly equivalent to baseball here in like the 70s and 80s.

ā€œThe Most Comfortably Racistā€ place on Earth.

Not my words, the words of John Oliver.

(I quite like them as well, the racism is a bit overstated IMO)

Well we do like Australians because they’re a lot more like us than your lot or the Irish (we think they’re the loud, rude, annoyingly-accented ones in the relationship though lol). I assume that New Zealand is some kind of elaborate practical joke because even Aussies talk about it like it’s a magical fairy kingdom not to be taken seriously.

It’s their Canada.

More chilled, crapper weather, less dangerous, easier to love.
