Trump's vendetta against Amazon is getting out of control

What business does Trump have doing this (assuming the allegations are true)?

"President Trump has personally pushed U.S. Postmaster General Megan Brennan to double the rate the Postal Service charges Amazon.com and other firms to ship packages, according to three people familiar with their conversations, a dramatic move that probably would cost these companies billions of dollars.

Brennan has so far resisted Trump’s demand, explaining in multiple conversations occurring this year and last that these arrangements are bound by contracts and must be reviewed by a regulatory commission, the three people said. She has told the president that the Amazon relationship is beneficial for the Postal Service and gave him a set of slides that showed the variety of companies, in addition to Amazon, that also partner for deliveries."

The really amazing part is that Trump’s own (former) economic adviser, Gary Cohn, had to explain to Trump that contracts with companies like Amazon are what make money for the post office.

“One of Amazon’s biggest defenders within the White House was Cohn, who had told Trump that the Postal Service actually made money on the payments Amazon made for package delivery. Cohn announced his departure from the White House in March.”

Maybe that explains why Cohn is really gone-he’s tried to get Trump to understand how things, like tariffs and postal contracts, actually work.

The president of the US should not be trying to use his power to hurt businesses he doesn’t like. That applies to ANY president.

Now that Trump has shown us you can use the Post Office to go after specific American companies maybe the next democratic president should do the exact same thing.

Hey, it’s the party of small government. Get government out if the way, they say.

I’m becoming more convinced that Republicans like government as much as Democrats. ■■■■ them both, I say.

Trump certainly likes breaking contracts. He’s practically built a career around it.

Personally, though, I’m going to laugh if he does break it - leading Amazon to go with UPS or FedEx. We’ll see how the USPS does without Amazon’s business.

Kinda reminds me of the IRS thing the right cries about

I was thinking of the FBI thing we cry about.

Donald’s just upset that Amazon is more popular with Americans, and with good reason - unlike Donald, Amazon delivers what they want, at a reasonable price, and in good time.

well, and Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post. can’t criticize or do investigative reporting on The Donald without him using government to try to crush/hurt you.

conservatives here should be against this. watch and see if they’re quiet.

Quiet? It’s only a matter of time before you get a “How do you like it, lib?” reply.

Wow.

Once again turning the topic to people here and what you think about rank-and-file cons.

Once again, you don’t want to discuss the topic. You want to spew your hate against people.

libs seem to eat that ■■■■ and love it

Like clockwork. Unnamed sources are cool when they’re pro-Trump, but they’re made up ■■■■■■■■ when they’re anti-Trump. We know, we get it already. now shoo, pest!

The post office is losing money and it should raise their rates at least enough to be profitable. “We” should NOT be paying the expense that results in the additional profit of a company.

It’s the contracts that the post office has with companies like Amazon that are very likely the reason they’re not further in the red than they already are. One of the problems seems to be that people just don’t send letters/first class mail like they used to.

Correct, the PO had to diversify. They used Amazon and others to regain business.

Trump only hates them because Bezos owns the Washington Post. He’s using government to go after the press.

You would think that real American Conservatives would be up in arms about this mafia like move.
