Trump sues in bid to block congressional subpoena of financial records

If Trump is innocent and has nothing to hide, he should release them.

Then America would know he made x billions, paid x hundreds in taxes, gave x cents to charity. And Trump could declare that there was nothing to see.

That’s all this is.

Thank God somebody is checking in to it.

If you had nothing to hide you would let me come over to your house and look through all your rooms and through your computer files.

Remember when Romney released his files? Dems made a big deal because he had accounts in a Swiss bank. And yet the only nefarious purpose to having accounts in a Swiss bank is to hide it from the IRS…but it was in his tax returns so he wasn’t hiding it.
And Trumps taxes will be much more complicated than those of Romney.

DOJ policy is that the president can’t be indicted. As Mueller said in his report, that also makes it inappropriate to make accusations of criminal wrongdoing. Congress appears to be the only entity capable of actually doing something about Trump’s bad behavior, so they are the ones who should have the records.

Yes. Trump’s DoJ has taken the efficacy of criminal investigation off the table and has used the head of the department to whitewash the report on an existing criminal investigation.

Congress is the last house on the block.

This is exactly what we pay these people to do. To represent us and to make sure that those that govern us are not in thrall or at least aligned interest-wise with those who oppose us.

And to think that after the 2018 mid-terms Donald Trump tweeted

“Received so many Congratulations from so many on our Big Victory last night, including from foreign nations (friends) that were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals. Now we can all get back to work and get things done!”

Congress, under the law, has the power to look at anybody’s tax returns.

Yours included. Mine included.

Any particular reason President Trump should be treated specially under the law?

Of course, had Republicans simply held Trump’s feet to the fire with the minimum of accountability, asking him to do what every other major party candidate has done since the time I was on a tricycle, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

Well I knew this was coming eventually because another thing we know about President Trump is that as a private citizen he was litigious with a pretty good record of WINNING his cases! When you’re dealing with a savage pack of Dem dogs you have turn the hose on them!

This asinine subpoena from Congressional House Democrats is not just for President Trumps taxes, they are suing a private accounting firm to turn over all data of the Trump organization and every domestic or foreign bank they ever did business with! It’s as desperate, pathetic & stupid as it gets and I wonder if these Dem dumbbells ever heard of the Dept of the Treasury or the IRS.

And as far as I’m concerned these tyrannical House Dems need to be dropped kicked to Cuba, (maybe Venezuela), where those types of banana republic, socialist authoritarian actions & abuse of power is acceptable!

NOT in the USA…:us:

How do you feel about Candidate Trump willing to get financing from a bank that was under US sanctions?

I know why.

This is a desperate post from a supporter of a politician who does not want Congress to review his financial dealings with foreign entities.

Actually, Trump has a pretty good record of settling his court cases.

I keep asking Trump supporters the question if they think it is important to know if our president has been compromised by a foreign government. I have yet to get a honest answer.
Trump’s position and comments on Russia and Saudi Arabia are highly suspect.

Damned good question. Anyone?

They don’t care. They’re way too invested at this point.

Not only could he shoot someone on 5th avenue and still have their support, he could be an agent of a foreign government and still have their support.

We know that he “expected” the help of the Russian government in the 2016 election.

We know that he got that help.

The equivalency would be if I had nothing to hide, then would I allow you to see my tax returns? Absolutely. No one is asking to go through Trump’s house or his computer files. Just wanna see those tax records.

At least Romney released his.

Why do you assume that?

The Mueller report said “No collusion”!

I am not talking about the time during the campaign. And I am not talking about collusion. I am talking about Trump (and various family members) being compromised by financial dealings.
