Trump: "People that own their homes: we're gonna keep them wealthy. We're gonna keep those prices up . . ."

What is your definition of the “free market”? It implies very few, if any , rules or regs enforced by governemnt.

Lol. Not AI? Oh boy…

How do you do that?

Ok…maybe this statement was just a ham handed way to say ‘we don’t want a collapse of housing prices’?

Yeah, this is true in our town. Shoe horning in apartments and they are more expensive than the last batch…

Only up side from a housing affordability perspective is, developments of certain size are required to have affordable housing units.

BUT

that’s a whole nother ball of wax as the companies renting these apartments are butching the spirit of that law in all sorts of ways.

Don’t get me started…affordable housing programs need more oversight and reform.

maybe you are right.

Anything that was once violated in the past,
free markets
equal rights for women etc
should be totally abandoned.

That did not answer the question. It is not that hard…

What is your definition of the “free market”?

I did not answer it because I consider this whole line ofdiscussion inane.
Civil rights have been 100% protected, rape never 100% ended, nor have free markets 100% dominant.

It is not that hard to answer. But I understand, as it blows multiple holes in the “theory” of free markets.

Completely agree, especially on the high end. I can speak only for NJ, but these new built so-called “luxury” townhouse prices are ridiculous. Also, in many middleclass communities across NJ, there are still relatively modest homes going for over $700,000! At some point there’s just not going to be enough buyers at those price ranges and we should see them coming down.

It’s a start and…it’s enforcing the laws that all sides agreed to.

How’s the excessive regulation pushed by your beloved Dems over the past 30-40 years working out in blue states regarding housing affordability?

I sailed away a while back - I can send the boat back for ya. The beer is cold, the fishing is off the charts and it’s never once been below 61F.

so how do you feel about zoning?

Who? Me?

I think they are part of the problem
esp the ones about home sizes, single-family occupancy, etc..

Gotta be careful about un-doing them.
But this (below) should be our guiding principle:

Part of the reason we have the issues we do with housing is absolutely how we have conducted immigration policies over the past 50 years. Yes people the cost of housing is absolutely impacted by what’s known as the law of supply and demand.

Well he’s just saying what he means. He’s always for the already-wealthy, he will protect them at all costs, and he calls you The Forgotten Man for a reason.

Boats can be a good investment too, if you buy it in a glut market and sail it to a place where the demand is high. You can’t do that with a house …

I knew a guy who bought sailboats in Hawaii from people who had sailed over there and discovered they hated ocean sailing. He brought them back to the west coast where he sold them at a healthy profit to people who dreamed about being an ocean sailor, first stop Hawaii.

In that clip there’s not any specified policy. What exactly is proposing to do about housing other than lowering interest rates?
