Where was his money coming from?

What does a public announcement of a bounty on Trump do?
The “lone gunman” has long been the preferred way to remove troublesome political leaders.
Clearly Crooks was plan A, but a turn of the head and an unexpected shot from local police saved Trump.
Routh appears to be a hasty plan B, but his shady history reeks of foreign dealings and Deep State connections. It is going to be really hard to sell the idea that he acted alone.
A next logical step would be to abandon the lone-gunman model. The government has long used drone strikes to remove US citizens overseas who are declared to be “security threats”. Clearly it could justify doing the same here to “save democracy”.
