Trump: "I'm a nationalist."

Do tell- what form of nationalism is Trump espousing?

Some on the left are pushing socialist nationalism.

You go ahead and go with de Gaulle’s warped version of what a nationalist is and I sure hope his twisted version wasn’t aimed at the USA because we saved France’s butt along with the rest Europe from the Nazi’s in WWII!

I’ll go with this definition of what a nationalist is:

Nationalism is a political, social, and economic system characterized by the promotion of the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining sovereignty over the homeland. The political ideology of nationalism holds that a nation should govern itself, free from outside interference and is linked to the concept of self-determination. Nationalism is further oriented towards developing and maintaining a national identity based on shared, social characteristics, such as culture and language, religion and politics, and a belief in a common ancestry. Nationalism, therefore, seeks to preserve a nation’s culture, by way of pride in national achievements, and is closely linked to patriotism, which, in some cases, includes the belief that the nation should control the country’s government and the means of production.

I’m a nationalist too! :us: MAGA :us:

Trump says dumb ■■■■ daily but because he’s president it has to be reported.

Donald is making nationalism great again.

Trump is pushing something I would call liberal nationalism.

what’s “dumb” about nationalism?

This is really getting old, you trump-haters hear what trump says, then you change the meaning and context of his words, to create the worst possible outcome, and you run with it, in another stupid thread.

nationalism

noun

** 1. spirit or aspirations common to the whole of a nation.**
** 2. devotion and loyalty to one’s own country; patriotism.**

So we are only to observe the meaning and context of words and phrases, according to de Gaulle?? Sorry charlie.

“Nationalism is further oriented towards developing and maintaining a national identity based on shared, social characteristics, such as culture and language, religion and politics, and a belief in a common ancestry.”

Ugh…

You use the same argument to denounce forms of socialism?

I can see why this would appeal to white people in America.

Richard Spencer and Stephen Miller must be breathless and absolutely ecstatic at this announcement.

What does that even mean?

I’m a first generation American of Italian/Sicilian ancestry, of which I am very proud but my Country America always comes first! :us: Assimilation into the most diverse country in the entire world does not mean you have to forget your ancestral roots and this is something that regressive liberals just can’t get through their muddled and unpatriotic minds………. UGH!!!

Most of which are bad.

See the killing fields of the Western Front in 1916 as an example.

You missed number 3 when you cribbed from Dictionary.com

  1. excessive patriotism; chauvinism.
