Mexico City has a higher elevation, 7349 than the Mile High City Denver. Western Colorado was original Mexican territory and given up as part of the settlement of the Mexican-American war. Same for all of the Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah part, of other states. Google: Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo before and after maps.
54-40 connects the lower 48 with Alaska. As long as the territory becomes part of the State of Alaska, I’m good with it.
Better yet, Brutish Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and Alaska should secede from their respective countries and form their own nation. Northwest Territory and Saskatchewan could join too, if they wanted to. Maybe eventually Manitoba and Nunavut might join us and then we could put in a bid to buy Greenland. Wouldn’t that be cool.
To be fair, the Continental Army had an issue with guys dying in droves from small pox. That’s what ended the Siege of Quebec. They got there, started the siege, then counted the number of soldiers after a week and realized “my God man, half of our force is dead and those French weirdos and Brits aren’t really even shooting at us. Everyone has the pox!”
You fix that issue, it’s possible we could have won.
The bulk of Mexico’s population lives in a relatively narrow band across the central part of the country. The reason is because that zone is not like the barren craggy flatlands and Sonoran desert that many of us think of as the stereotypical Mexico.
Do you think it’s wise for leaders to voice every thought in their head? I think sometimes it’s more strategic to not let everyone know what you are thinking or working on.
