Trump caves on tariffs on China

“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” --Mitch McConnell

Worst negotiator ever.

You know how a person can convince themselves that they’re great at something (fake it until you make it). This Trump dude has taken that to a whole new level. He’s convinced himself that he’s a negotiating God when he’s really no better than a punk used car salesman in Nowhere, USA.

No, the tariffs began April 2018.

China’s first reported outbreak of this strain was August 2018.

Then why did China destroy 700,000 pigs in 2017?

I think Trump is the only trying to deal with the trade deficit with China. And he should be supported a by all freedom loving people. The current Chinese govt has history of tyranny and mass murder as bad or worse than the national socialists… Would you support trade with them at any level?

But I do wish he’d support the Hong Kong protests more, and perhaps he is…Tariffs on goods just for that would be great in my opinion.

I wonder if ol’ flexible whispered sweet noting to the Chinese too?

Aren’t they a hoot?!! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

“Trade deficit” is a useless metric.

No, it’s not…

Useless.

Can you show where even a single expert is theorizing about even the possibility that the change in soybean providers is responsible for the epidemic?

And that’s not even addressing your incoherent post indicating “we need to address the trade deficit” followed directly by “we should not trade with them AT ALL!”

Take a deep breath and make some sense.

Truly, threatening a new round of tariffs, having China actually suspend all food imports from the US and then backing down on the tariffs while the Chinese didn’t lift theirs was a stroke of ■■■■■■■ genius.

China is hurting big time folks. The tariffs are working. All one has to do is compare the values of both our currencies to understand that but remember…Trump wants to hurt China, not bankrupt them.

Why do you think that’s horrible negotiating? Do you think the trade balance and relationship between China and the US was at a good level right at the end of Obama’s term? If not, what would you have done to ensure China moved the needle in the right direction?

Which part didn’t you understand? Isn’t China oppressing it’s people, and now trying to increase oppression in Hong Kong?

Shouldn’t we be supporting democratic republics not communist/fascist/tyranny as the future of the world?

Obama never even tried negotiating. What do the dems candidates say about trade with fascist communists? Bush was misguided. We should learn from our mistakes…

He hasn’t backed down on tariffs. The existing tarriffs remain. He has rescheduled a portion of the next tariff increases, while still adding some more. China is trying to take over the world, and has been getting its way for decades. You don’t turn that around in three years with the ajustment of just a few levers. I am stunned at the simplistic analysis exhibited by Trump’s critics, whose own expertise got the US into this mess.

So we should stop trading with them completely, and stop selling soybeans to Argentina so they can send them to China.

We don’t need China

I think you’re confused. China, in response to the threat of these new tariffs, suspended all American agricultural imports. Then Trump delayed the sanctions that caused that by six months, six months that the Chinese will be inflicting quite a bit of damage on our agribusiness.

Seriously. Genius. Bluff, get nothing, make it worse for us, then back off.
