Why is it do you suppose that intent matters for virtually every crime up to and including murder but not racism? And I didn’t say not renting to black people wasn’t a racist act. my distinction was one of the intent behind it.

I don’t disagree with any of that, I said it was wrong of him to do it. But let’s be real too, being woke wasn’t exactly a thing back then either.
Well, you see, killing someone for money is still murder. “I was just being greedy, it was purely economic” isn’t going to be a good defense for a contract killer to make to the jury.

And if you murder a black man for money? Is it greed or racism? Like I said, I can agree he committed a racist act, that doesn’t necessarily mean his intent was racist.
Woke is a double edged sword, but that doesn’t really matter. I doubt at any point in his life, that if this scenario were to play out, he would do the same thing because he lacks the minimal amount of empathy. It’s just not in his wheelhouse.

The contract killer is just doing it for money. It just so happens he’s getting jobs to kill black people as part of a racist system.

But does not mean your intent or motivation was racist.
Your actions are racist. You are being racist. It doesn’t ■■■■■■■ matter what’s in your heart.

Like I said, I can agree it was a racist act.
If someone is willing to prop up an evil system for financial gain, their heart is rotten. If financial gain is worth more than actively continuing a racist system…you’re probably a racist yourself because you think that person, because of the color of their skin, is less important than your financial gain. Because of the color of their skin, you are going to actively participate in harming them.
That is racist. It makes you a racist.
