Trump Cancels Trip to Denmark- because they won't sell him Greenland

And the POTUS should know an important fact like that.

If you refuse to rent to ANY black person, not but poor (insert any other race here) , you’re personally racist.

And racism doesn’t necessarily mean you hate all black people.

I grew up in the LDS church, and we had a black bishop (the equivalent of a minister/preacher/pastor) for a while, and they were close family friends. But when I listen to family members joke that the Obamas are probably having fried chicken and watermelon for Christmas dinner, that’s personal racism.

Uh, yeah. Doing racist stuff makes you a racist.

Not if your motivation isn’t racism you aren’t. Intent matters.

You should look up the old practice of blockbusting.

Not renting to black people… no matter what the reason … is racist.

I know that people don’t want to think of themselves as racist… I get it.

But it is in fact racist.

He intended to discriminate against BLACK people for what? He LOST himself money on them while he waited for non-black renters. That’s racist.

“I’m not racist,” said the plantation owner, “it’s just that owning all of these slaves makes me so much money!”

His motivation was likely financial gain, not racism. I am going to go out on a limb and guess if it had been the other way around and the financial gain side was to sell to more black people, that is what he would have done.

Or at least it is a plausible possibility.

Slavery wasn’t racist. It was just economics.

That’s all racist.

And chances are he lost money from the time those places were vacant instead of having paying black tenants.

It’s a plausible possibility that refusing to rent to black folks “for more money” is incredibly racist.

That may or may not be motivated by personal racism.

“Personal racism” is meaningless. Actions are what matter.

To quote Batman, it’s not what we say, but what we DO that defines us.

Trump told his property managers not to rent to black folks.

That’s racist.

You can justify the racism all you like, but he discriminated against a person based upon the color of their skin. People of that skin color were not good enough to pay money to live at his properties. No one decided that but a human being with the last name “Trump.”

Don’t forget the almost ubiquitous defence of “he was only joking”.

It must be a very proud day for all citizens of the USA to see the petulance of a 7 year old who currently occupies the position of President of the USA on display yet again.

If Republicans want to recycle those “Miss me yet?” photos of Dubya that made the rounds when Obama was POTUS and post them now, I won’t contest it this time.

It’s not like they were people or anything.

The rub for me here is that as an empathetic person, you should always be aware that even though your intentions were not based on race, if it perpetuates systemic racism, it’s not good, at all. Sometimes personal greed should take a back seat to doing the right thing, because it’s right. Psychologically speaking, Its way more powerful than maintaining or accumulating wealth.

Presumably a lot of Americans who visit other countries around the world would have a great deal of difficulty trying to rationalise D Trump’s behaviour when asked about it.

Presumably a lot of Americans would try to pass for Canadian while overseas.
