If people aren’t aware-not you specifically-“opportunity zones” or whatever they’re calling them now are just tax breaks. Like you don’t have to pay taxes for the first five years or ten or whatever. Where it immediately falls down and breaks its knees attempting to leap the first hurdle is that big chains won’t put stores in the hood and small businesses don’t have to claim a profit on paper for five years anyway, so there’s no immediate incentive.
You talk that Democratic plantation talk as much as anyone.
Also, literally no one says Uncle Tom anymore except white conservatives. This is not 1987. More likely to call a shuck and jiver like Candace Owens “Uncle Ruckus,” though in her defense she doesn’t believe any of this ■■■■■ she’s just a grifter.
Exactly and they’ve been trying to do this since crack hit the hood like a nuclear bomb. And where I live, both the city and the county both have agencies that are directly charged with urban revitalization (we had the first urban redevelopment plan in American history) and even real and serious benefits like we will literally give you a building to open your business that we seized for back taxes didn’t even work.
Abolish a law that already did this with an EO that has no mechanism for keeping the promises outlined in it.
And Trump supporters applaud.
Offer a “ Platinum Plan” proposal which if enacted would essentially require reparations (well it would BE reparations) because if not no funding or legislative mechanisms exist to make the promises a reality.
