Three little Bobcats

Want to hear a good one?

She came back, the mother without her cub, so I went out to chase her away.

Should have taken a video of it.

Then I seen her again…coming in from same place as the last time behind the post…so I thought.

Now after I almost ■■■■ my pants on first video in which I need to edit, I did get this one on video…it wasn’t her. He was no more then 10 ft away was this big male black bear.

Very cool.
All I ever get are raccoons and possums.

You are sadly drawing large and dangerous predators into your homestead. They detect the easy meal.

I’ve thought about that. But I only put out at most 3 chicken thighs…and if they don’t eat it in first hour or hour and half I pull it. But mostly it’s two thighs. But I also live between two salmon streams. One right behind my house about 70ft…and other one is about 1200 ft away across the road.

I live at intersection of two animal pathway/greenbelt. And I’m right on it.

I’m thinking they must have done a major development/land clearing around here that’s driving em. I always had plenty of bears but not like this.

They will be hibernating here real soon, look how fat they are. I’m thinking they’re looking for undisturbed restate and there is not much around here anymore. This area is last holdout. Evidently this property will be cut up into postage size lots with 5000 sqft homes.

All I get are squirrels and hares and various birds. Although we always get moose in the winter and an occasional fox … and once a young porcupine.

Where that post is…it’s almost the center of the road. Every single wildlife in my state had passed through the brush behind it…and along the brush. Hell the state put up wildlife crossing at the end of my driveway…but idiots have it facing the wrong way. I’ve seen every single critter using that driveway…hell I followed them down entire way to the barn/house.

Bobcats, cougars, bears, deer, even had elk, foxes, coyotes, possums, raccoons…oh I did try to hit the possum. Birds, quail you name it. Usually every other year when they turn back the clocks a deer gets hit or other wildlife. Probably the mother of these cats too.

Kind of sad…there is not many places like this anymore. And someday this will be all gone.

Hell shined the light out in front…must have been 6 or 7 rabbits out there right now.

The wood of the post is probably saturated with food scent.

Do you have larger breeds of bears in the area?

Possibly bones but I’m sure coyotes cleans that up every night.

No, Black bears is only bear we have in this area. Up in mountains or over the hump there is few grizzlies.

There are wolves too, but not in this area.

About 600 pound Black bear isn’t big enough for you?

Like I said, I always had bears here, but never repeatably seen 4 different bears before within 3 days.

Just think that’s odd. I had those cameras up since mid to late Aug and not single bear passed through and then all the sudden I have these in last 3 days?

I thought it might be because she’s in heat…but mating season for them is in July/Aug around here.

I think something got disturb and drove them out of there own territory.

We have a whole lot of black bears in Michigan where I grew up. Had to watch for them during hunting season. Nothing a Model 99 (300 Savage) couldn’t handle. Black bears aren’t usually overly aggressive, but can be.

I’m not worried about em, I’ve stumbled on them now and than…going out to and from the barn/workshop. So it’s not that of big deal…but it does startle you when you both come around the corner at the same time. I remember walking around behind my PU and mother bears was next to driving side front tire…and I was just as close to that big guy today…but today I backed up…and then he ran. Then he decided after I was gone to be brave and marked that tree.

You need to mark some trees.
