What you would see in this thread is a ton of the same arguments that were made prior to 1929 (and after tons of American workers have benefited from safety nets ever since).

Then allow me to share my personal, conservative, financial approach to life, no matter what the national economic situation is when making a decision; if everything goes wrong, will I be ok? That…is my safety net. In reality, we have no one but ourselves…so…conserve.

I come from a family of 10 and we were dirt poor. My folks couldn’t afford much of anything, so I worked and put myself through college. My wife and I started out with all of our belongings in the back seat of her dilapidated old car. Many friends and family were in a very similar situation 45 years ago.

What is the fairness class envy LIBs are looking for? I keep hearing about socialism, but even there a wealth gap exists. The difference being that the big Government is the 1% and everyone else lives in abject poverty. Is that what is being advocated by LIBs?

There will always be wealth inequality, it sucks but no matter the system it will be there.

I would rather focus on giving employees and consumers more protection so their incomes are better protected which will give them the chance to accumulate wealth.

Well, on the more liberal side of things Sanders and Warren have a ton of proposed policies that could help address that.

Beyond that there is always nationalization of companies and industries.

There’s really a lot of things we can do about wealth inequality.

This would be economic suicide.

Vietnam is currently on the path of selling off their previously nationalized industries and with each sector of Vietnam’s economy that goes private, their countries wealth and standard of living rise.

Vietnam learned the hard way socialism doesn’t work and even though they keep the name, they are rapidly shifting to a capitalistic, free market economy.

As a group we trash the planet, leave it to others to clean up, run up massive debt and are totally irresponsible health wise (smoking, drinking, eating).

And if that’s not crazy enough, in twenty years 10% of our population will control 80% of the wealth. By 2059 10% will control 90% of the wealth.
