The Rapture and the Real World: Mike Pompeo Blends Beliefs and Policy

Why not? Are you taking them on faith?

Have a nice night.

Planning on it bud, its Friday!

Based on nuclear fallout shelters.

I would say no, but I haven’t talked to him. I’m taking the word of a New York Times editor. Of course he’s probably never talked to the Secretary either.

Is it any more concerning than any other strongly held belief? If so, how so?

I see what you’re doing here. :smirk:

I don’t see the logic.

Are you familiar with the basics of Evangelical beliefs when it comes to End Times and the Rapture?

All I’m doing in your case is waiting on you.

Of course. I have read the Bible several times. It is a continuous process for me.

How is it any different than any other strongly held belief?

I disagree. I’m assuming you’re referencing the Declaration of Independence with the ā€œCreatorā€ reference. That term has a different meaning to Deists, of which Jefferson and Franklin belong.

This is about more than just reading the Bible, it’s about understanding what most Evangelicals believe happens in the End Times, and in particular America’s role to play in it.

What is your understanding of that belief? I’m curious what you’ve heard.

What was their meaning?

Again, I’m not discussing specific dogma. If you don’t like the example, use your own.

Lucifer is real and she lives next door to me, meanest lady I have ever seen.

Specific dogma (namely, the one Pompeo believes in) is germane to the discussion as to whether that dogma is problematic for America given the role he plays in its government.

What example are you referencing?

So you want to pick winners and losers from among all the strongly held beliefs?

The Pompeo example.

Look at the thread and article title. Blends Faith and Policy

Blends. Interesting choice of words.

And that doesn’t change or refute what I posted.

Winners and losers in terms of belief has nothing to do with it, and is a dance I’ll let you twirl others about with.

What interests me is Pompeo’s specific beliefs, and what effects they might have on US foreign policy. Are they in line with typical Evangelical eschatological beliefs, specifically the role/fate of Israel, Russia, and America?
