Deists believe that God/Creator exists but only in so far as to create the universe and create natural law. God/Creator does not interact with the world after its creation. There is no such thing as the revealed “word of God,” such as the bible. Further, they reject the idea of religious dogma, prophecy and miracles. They do not believe Jesus was divine.

This deist influence is more apparent later in the Declaration of Independence, when the term “Nature’s God” is expressly used. This is a Deist term for the Creator.

Your interpretation.

Of course it does. Are you not building the argument that belief in rapture is worse than some other strongly held beliefs and that those believers are less suited for government service?

Thank you. Can you provide some valid evidence of this please?

I can Google it for you.

No, I’m not especially interested in comparing Pompeo’s beliefs to others, and ranking them on a credibility scale. Why are you?

Thanks, but I think this subject is a bit deep for wikipedia. I’ll look tomorrow.

That’s a cool story bro.

Here’s a book on the subject if you’re interested.

I think that’s exactly what you’re trying to do.

I’m not.

There is only one.

Okay, thanks.

What are YOU trying to do?

Where’s WallBuilders when you need them?

:sunglasses:

Yeah, man-made FANTASY.

That’s all religion has ever been. The fact that so many have yet to come to their senses on this is sad.

Have you read it?

Thank you for sharing your feelings.

Not feelings. Logic.

Understand. Discuss. Mostly why some strongly held beliefs are more acceptable than others to blend with policy. And why some people can overcome bias in their jobs and others can’t; apparently because of the nature of the strongly held belief. Compatibility questions as it were.

Newton and Descartes are ghosts in the room.

Interesting. Did you attend the University of Alabama?

I would suggest you read Righteous Minds by Haidt. You have much to overcome.

OK, you know what, I’ll give you that.
