Herd immunity Trumps herd TDS mentality
Definition of herd immunity…
resistance to the spread of an infectious disease within a population that is based on pre-existing immunity of a high proportion of individuals as a result of previous infection or vaccination.
I didn’t see the interview but if President Trump said that herd immunity protects from viruses like covid he was right and I wouldn’t buy into the mentality of TDS rhetoric… just saying.
No he said we needed herd mentality.
That’s what he’s used to from his acolytes.

Yeah, but some people don’t know the difference. Sad.
I was in a restaurant restroom and they had a sign over the sink that read, “Employees should consider washing their hands before returning to work”. Consider?
Sounds like the Fox News staff called in.
CDC Director Redfield just told senators that wearing a face mask might be more protection against COVID than a vaccine. This comes a little more than 12 hours after Trump said he has heard from his experts that don’t think masks are effective. Who are these experts you may wonder? Waitresses apparently.
Trump is a ■■■■■■■ psychopath and he needs to go. He is a danger to our nation.

I would feel embarrassed that my political party expects me to believe that.

that does not explain away Trumps ridiculous rant.
You’ve been conned. She didn’t ask a question.
I didn’t see the interview and I only saw the clip (on this forum) after I had made my original post so you’re tough out of luck for a yes or no answer.
I do know that President Trump runs his words and thoughts together that gives fodder to those who hate him so I’m just going to assume that’s the case here as well.
I liked the part where Trump said that he was being waited on and that the Waiters were touching their masks and then touching the plates of food. I’m surprised that someone didn’t ask him if he ate the food.

So when he says something stupid he is also thinking the stupid thought. Yeah, that makes sense.

He also said a vaccine won’t be available until early next year.

no, it would not. I know thats the talking point, but that talking point is based on the idea that herd immunity requires 80-85% infection rates. What sweeden and brazil are teaching us is it doesn’t. Something in the 20% range is enough to plateau it, I would imagine the 40% range would see numbers decrease dramatically.
I am not arguing for herd immunity, I want a vaccine, but the dire projections are based on apparently false assumptions. Aside from that, without a vaccine herd immunity is the only way to “beat” this, and all we’re doing is prolonging the inevitable. Without a vaccine or effective therapeutics the exact same number of people will die from COVID, it’ll just take longer to get there. Advances in therapeutics make it worth delaying.
There are approximately 328.2 million people in the US.
To get to the low end of herd immunity, according to your numbers, about 20% of the population must catch Covid.
That’s about 65,640,000 cases.
The current US death rate is about 2.96%.
So that’s 1,942,944 deaths necessary for herd immunity.
Your suggestion that 40% would be needed for herd immunity would mean that almost 4 Million would die.

When were McDonald’s employees called “waiters”?

When he say stuff like, “the experts told me” or “generals told me” or “they told me”, the follow up question should be, “Who…what are their names”. There are none, he making that ■■■■ up. No one didn’t tell him jack and even if they did it probably went against his BS narrative and ideology.
