A large number of people are NOT even aware that the U.S. Constitution would of NEVER been ratified in the first place IF states did not have the ability to mostly govern themselves on a day to day basis. According to the tenth amendment, President’s cannot mandate much of anything without each Governor going along with what is being requested. Even a vaccine for this very virus being paid and distributed for free by the US government can not be forced on any US citizen living in a US State. Yet any State can deny its residents freedom to work, going to church, being subject to permanent lock down, etc if they defy an executive order of any Governor to take the vaccine or else. Let that sink in…

Or system of government is wonderful for the many checks and balances built in. IMO Our President has been remarkably ineffectual at convincing others to follow him. He expects compliance but lacks the power to mandate it or moral integrity to persuade his people. People have the power, right, and duty to stand against him and say “this is wrong.” God Bless America.

No matter what, Trump is off the board.

I don’t think so. I believe his influence will continue with some of his supporters. He will continue to have a social media presence and I’d even wager he does big speaking events gaslighting everything that is happening within a new administration.

Donald Trump has spent his life creating brands. That’s how people can associate with him.
He has re-branded the Republican party into the Trump party. And he has successfully gotten probably hundreds of politicians, federal, state, and local, to buy into the brand.

If Trump is not re-elected this year, he will find a medium to continue to push his brand. And there will be many politicians who will continue to buy into the brand.
If anyone thinks once January 20, 2021 comes around and Trump isn’t somewhere, pushing what he has molded in the past 4 years is not understanding how he operates. Trump and his party are not going anywhere for a while.

There’s no way that such extremism is a “good thing”.

But they don’t have control of their party yet the way the extremists in the GOP are getting in control of theirs…with a coordinated media presence driving it on (for as much as people like to lambaste the “mainstream media” for being “in the tank” for “Libs”, no media matches the sophisticated and lockstep message coordination of right wing media).

Nobel Peace Prize nominations are one example that President Trump’s abilities are not what many more objective bystanders here and around the world think of his optimal diplomacy abilities both domestic and abroad.
