The national debt: Are you part of the problem, or the solution?

I remember this, too:

For all intents and purposes: never again.

The left might as well be the tea party, they have done a 180 on everything else including border security and now pro war wanting to keep the troops in Syria indefinitely. Might as well slap on the American flag pants and grab some tea at this point.

The left does want troops out of Syria. They just donā€™t want a real estate dude ordering it so heā€™ll look good in a news cycle without planning it with our military leaders.

That might have actually happened if it hadnā€™t been for a few policies of the Bush administration, specifically tax cuts and the Iraq war.

And back in reality.

You treat minor trends that occasionally occur as if they actually mean something. Which stopped or even slowed down the national debt clock? Answer. Neither. They both have accelerated it. Neither party has ever produced an actual plan to reduce the debt. They have done nothing to do so. You really have to be seriously in love with your politicians to actually claim that they have done a good job. You are imprisoned by party politics. Liberate yourself.

Get to work on what?

How do you suppose they do this? There are so few conservatives in congress that they have their own little caucus. Any idea how the minority is supposed to force itā€™s will on the majority?

For the last few decades, every time we make progress to reducing the deficit, a Republican President gets elected and BAM! Tax cuts, so the deficit goes shoots up again.

Seriously. Thatā€™s a long term trend.

The national debt was at 20 trillion when Trump got in to office. Now it is 22 trillion. You are totally ignoring the 20 trillion that was there when Trump was sworn in. Why? The colossal blunder is claiming the one party is doing a great job regarding the debt and the other sucks. Nwesflash. They both suck. They suck so bad that they canā€™t make ends meet with 4.4 trillion dollars of revenue each year. How can 4.4 tril not be enough?

And BAM you are ignoring the 20 trillion dollar debt that was there when Trump was sworn in. Why would you do that? How can any reasonable, thinking human being believe that there was no national debt problem before Trump? Itā€™s been going on for over fifty years and both parties suck. I would be embarrassed to cheerlead for any of the lame assed democrats or republicans who did nothing but run up the debt. They totally failed to come up with any actual plan for debt reduction. They didnā€™t do it because they suck.

Republican presidents: deficits skyrocket
Democrat presidents: deficits decrease

About as simple as thatā€¦

The Tea Party had no problem organizing rallies while the supposed Kenyan ran our country.

Where are they now???

Minor trends? Weā€™re talking about the last few decades and which party has actually been in the White House when the deficit situation started to improve/worsen. And itā€™s the same story every time.

I guarantee you that if Trump loses next year the Republican party will once again demand fiscal responsibility in Washington. Then they can all pretend these 4 years never occurred.

Thanks for saving me from typing.

This post exactly.

Iā€™m only going to explain this once. Then Iā€™m moving on. The tea Party is stuck in a small powerless, caucus called the Freedom caucus. For the past several years, the republican party has been run by big government types such as Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. The conservatives are simply out numbered by the big government types. Some of the tea party was simply absorbed into the establishment. Proving they had no real principles. They turned into big government types. That is what happened to the tea party. I never, at any point claimed that the tea party was doing a great job with national debt. They suck. Just as the dems and the republicans do. So we are in agreement regarding the tea party.

Which party has done a single thing to reduce the national debt? The answer. Neither. Which is why they both suck.

If we didnā€™t pass the tax cuts in 2017, the deficit would probably not be as large as it is.

But Republicans wanted their money. Even if they had to borrow from tomorrow.

You have to shrink the deficit before you can begin to tackle the greater debt.

And again, that has happened under Democratic administration while Republicans have come in, handed out tax cuts to those who donā€™t need them under the guise of creating some new Golden Age, and absolutely torpedoed any chance of balancing the budget. Trumpā€™s deficit for just last year is going to end up being roughly the same as Obamaā€™s last two years combined.

If you want to ā€œboth sidesā€ that into oblivion, itā€™s your call. Facts show something quite different though.

Clinton raised taxes which led to the deficit shrinking.

You are living in a world of denial. The national debt was 20 trillion dollars before 2017. Both parties are a joke.

Let me use a football analogy. Suppose a team loses a game 40 to 3. And another team loses a game 40 to 6. You guys are claiming that losing 40 to 6 is not only better than losing 40 to 3, itā€™s actually good. Gawd help us.

Simple question which will help us know if you are truly a fiscal conservative.

Do you support Trumps tax cuts?
