It did not work out with Clinton because Clinton’s perjury was in a private matter – he was trying to hide his infidelity from his wife – and while it was perjury the effort came across as vindictive and petty.
The matter at question here – we are assuming (because we don’t know the full extent of the whistle blower report) – is that Trump used American diplomacy in the service of electoral gain. If that emerges as the through story it is not going to look as petty as going after a man for telling a lie to keep a secret from his wife.
If lying to keep a secret from your wife was material, Trump would have been impeached as “Individual One” or whatever he was called in the Daniels case, but the Democratic leadership knew better than to repeat Gingrich’s farce.

The craziest part of all this-and that is pretty ■■■■■■■ crazy indeed-is that all of this could have been avoided if Trump hadn’t tried to extort Ukraine for possible dirt on the son of a likely rival candidate whose personal life is so full of tragedy re: family both recent and in the past you’d have to be a moron to even try to use it against him.
You bet I would say the vote count in the senate will be about what it was when Bill Clinton was impeached by the house. Every single vote went down party lines.

But you are forgetting all the fun we will have, if it gets that far, watching Susan Collins pull her “I’m so conflicted act” for weeks until at the last minute she decides to vote to acquit Trump. Isn’t that something to look forward to?

This is a blatant abuse of Presidential power to get a foreign country involved in our elections. You know… kinda what like the Trump campaign did in the Mueller report.

He’s the only hope left for the future of republican party. If he ain’t on the phone with Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz right now, his entire career has been pointless. The entire reason he is Vice President is to be the Christian establishment figurehead ready to take over from the Manhattan heathen when he inevitably collapses. And here we are.
The best thing that could happen to the Republican party is to remove Trump, have Pence pardon him and everyone else, spend a few months genuflecting to the cross and the flag while the party gets the primaries ready and in a year we all forget that any of the contenders were ever associated with any of this.
Now is the time.
If nothing else, he was clever enough to make himself permanent “acting” chief of staff so he can walk away the second that Trump starts abusing him.

If you believe that lying to cover an affair is a High Crime and Misdemeanor you should apply the same rule to Trump.
If you are not willing to do that then you are admitting you know that the Democrats acquitted because the Republicans claim that Clinton’s perjury hit the “High Crime and Misdemeanor” bar was nonsense.

Nixon wasn’t impeached he resigned. This is exactly what Trump wants it’s starting to get sad people on the left don’t see his tactics, he wants a show and they are going to give it to him right before the election.
