I have another theory.

Again, there is a lot of confusion about how we got here with Garcia. The only thing we know with any certainty is that he is now sitting in CECOT due to some kind of administrative error.

I believe many members have rightly pointed out that Garcia was simply lumped together with a number of Venezuelan gang members and sent to El Salvador with payment to incarcerate them.

I’m wondering if that was the source of the administrative error. I’m wondering if those responsible simply rounded everyone up and put them on the plane, without realizing one of them wasn’t a Venezuelan gang member but was instead a citizen of El Salvador with a protective hold.

The plane arrives in El Salvador, and the ES government takes delivery. At some point, it becomes obvious that a mistake was made. Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador and I’m wondering if the ES government decided that even if he wasn’t supposed to be part of the Venezuelan deal that they decided to keep him anyway.

Just some additional speculation on my part.

ICE said he was. The government of El Salvador obviously agreed, or they wouldn’t have incarcerated him.

The last time they saw him was when he was 16. 13 years ago.

He was in US custody, until he landed in El Salvador. He is no longer in US custody as is being claimed by some forum members.

But most importantly, it confirms what I’ve been saying. The US is paying El Salvador to take Venezuelan gang members. It mentions Garcia in passing, but nowhere does it even hint that the US is including Garcia in the deal.

The deal doesn’t mention anyone specifically. Not Garcia and no one else.

Exactly. On any issue we discuss in this forum, we have those taking the liberal point of view and we have those taking the conservative point of view. For this particular issue I’m taking the conservative point of view, and you are taking the liberal point of view. It is a given that as a conservative, I would see those who disagree with me as having a LW slant.

In regard to the piece, you are correct in that it wasn’t an opinion piece. It did accurately present some factual information. But the journalist then proceeded to add his LW spin to that factual information.

What’s ironic is that I would expect you, of all people, to understand something that basic.
