This is what I call “non news.” Cruz probably planned a vacation weeks or months ago, without any thought to getting away from this cold snap, something that he couldn’t have anticipated. If getting out of the cold was reprehensible conduct, you would have to censure a the few dozen people I knew from my town -in NJ - who have fled to Florida. Including a former mayor who was once popular enough to have his name plastered on a lot of recognized sites in the town. And they always say it’s about “finally getting away from the cold winters.”
They are not mutually exclusive.

And that is opposite of what he said on local news, where he pretty much blamed it on the natural gas infrastructure.
