Symptoms and Prevention of Coronavirus

I would assume the temperature survival is for surfaces etc…

Yes. That would be my assumption as well.

Another thought, we are a victim of our own comfort. Air conditioning.

The 78-80 is outside the host on dry surfaces. It is perfectly happy to live at higher temperatures in the moist confines of your body.

Like other coronaviruses, including those that cause the common cold and that triggered SARS, COVID-19 is a respiratory illness.

  • The most common symptoms are:
  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue

Although having a runny nose doesn’t rule out coronavirus, it doesn’t thus far appear to be a primary symptom.

Most people only become mildly ill, but the infection can turn serious and even deadly, especially for those who are older or have underlying health conditions.

In these cases, patients develop pneumonia, which can cause:

  • Potentially with yellow, green or bloody mucus
  • Fever, sweating and shaking chills
  • Shortness of breath
  • Rapid or shallow breathing
  • Pain when breathing, especially when breathing deeply or coughing
  • Low appetite, energy and fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting (more common in children)
  • Confusion (more common in elderly people)
  • Some patients have also reported diarrhea and kidney failure has occassionally been a complication.

Avoid people with these symtpoms. If you develop them, call your health care provider before going to the hospital or doctor, so they and you can prepare to minimize possivle exposure if they suspect you have coronavirus.

Three of those five symptoms are “normal” for me.

Then they’re not symptoms for you. ; ) Since they’re just SOP.

Was reading today that coughing into the crook of the elbow actually isn’t that good… the virus would stay in the clothing and potentially affect others.

The thing to do is use tissues.

And then dispose of them in a plastic bag. :grinning: (Smiley due to the argument about single use plastic bags).

What if I get a fever? Do they count as symptoms then?

Why not just put the bag over your head to cough?

I wasn’t trying to be snarky, just funny.

That’s what I thought you were trying to be.

I was just sharing what I’d read, and the rationale behind it.

If you think it would work to put the plastic bag over your head to cough, go for it.

I understood that. Why did you think otherwise?

Your response didn’t seem to be humorous but rather snarky. No smiley face. Sorry if I misinterpreted it

Oops wrong threat.

Knee jerk reaction?

------Knee jerk reaction?

What are you talking about?

You thought I was being snarky. Knee jerk reaction.

And I apologized. Do u accept my apology?

Don’t need one. I’m not upset.

Ok, good!
