For #2, what VA rating does it kick in at?
10% 30% 50%??
For #5 That is a business decision, not a government decision.
As far as property taxes, that is a state by state decision.
Iâm ok with 1% if itâs line of duty, but open to suggestions.
Of course. But it can be encouraged.

Honorably discharged vets should tuition free.
A law forcing adherence to the 2nd Amendment.
I disagree with letting seniors off the hook of property taxes on principle.
They could have pushed for that when they were young and benefiting from their seniorsâ property taxes. But they didnât care enough then.
I donât see why younger generations should give them a break now. The old folks certainly havenât done anything to ingratiate themselves to those youngins.
Same with SS taxes.
An olive branch:
Seniors should be exempted from property taxes only if there are no zoning restrictions against high density and tiny housing in their neighborhood.
Current young generation could push for it, and set a start date decades in the future. (In a sense, thatâs the upshot of what would have happened had todayâs seniors âpushed for it when they were young.â)
I am an advocate of no tax on SS, using the same principle as no tax on Roth IRAs.
We pay into SS, but do not get to deduct that on our income taxes. (Same as paying into a Roth.) So it seems fair that we shouldnât have to pay taxes on what we put into it AND pay taxes on what we get out of it.
One caveat: Half of what goes into the SS bucket in my name is contributed by my employer. Employers get to deduct that against corporate income, so that portion maybe is rightfully taxed when we receive it in retirement.
Having said the prior replies, I would rather see the efforts going into cutting spending.
In a deficit paradigm, new tax cuts undercut the revenue flow and, without matching cuts, result in more deficit.
Nobody is âgiving them a break.â
I disagree, but itâs not worth arguing about.
Your desire will only be achieved by satiating the younger generationsâ spite. Thatâs the political reality. Itâs a waste of time to ask kids who canât even buy their starter homes to feel sorry for old people getting taxed out of their retirement ones.
Help the kids undo a half-century of nimby rules that have calcified into zoning law, and the kids will be more willing return that goodwill.
laws are already on the books in each state.
