Some early take away's from the election results

How do we “split the country” ? Would the northeast and the west coast be one country, and flyover country be the other? That would be like West Bank and Gaza comprising Palestine, I guess.

Toss in Illinois for good measure.

Here’s my take away: Donald Trump could have won the popular vote by 10 million if he didn’t act like a complete and total idiot for the entirety of his presidency.

Absurd on its face. An elected official represents the vision that got him elected.

Seeing how popular vote doesn’t make one president, who cares?

Libs didn’t win the presidency, or take the Senate. So toss out the Constitution. :man_shrugging:

Well that probably would have translated into at least 350 electoral votes. That kind of matters.

Or at least, the individuals in California.

Thankfully, one state doesn’t rule the country. The Constitution was set up deliberately to prevent that.

I’d like to see a “Left Alone Party”.

“In 4 years, we promise we’ll look back and say, ‘We left them the hell alone’.”

Nobody said that.

Why did you make that up?

Seems to be the case.

The states at play are less than that. 270 wins.

That’s entirely possible. Or it’s possible he would have lost by 10 million for not being what he is.

Libs didn’t run a lib for the Presidency. They ran a professional politician. A 47 year member of the ruling class and a woman of acceptable color.

They ran vanilla with a suggestion of sprinkles to come.

  • This may play out as the best of the bad scenarios, as there’s clearly no “mandate,” the progressive agenda won’t be rammed through, nor will we have a President that’s a 24/7 lightning rod. This country needs a time-out, not fundamental transformation.
  • No coronavirus or Twitter rants and Trump would have coasted to easy victory. No riots, defund the police, or “woke” lunacy and a blue wave would have washed over the nation.
  • The progressive agenda isn’t popular as Democrats think and the Democratic Socialist wing needs to be booted to the curb. This was an election based solely on personality, and any other Republican with Trump’s record would have won by double digits.
  • We’re more entrenched in our divisions than ever and may indeed have a fatal crack in the Republic.
  • The posters of this board may disagree, but aren’t disagreeable. The challenging discussions I’ve had here actually give me hope - I’m glad I signed up.

What if we did away with the Presidency?

Not sure how one would split, just that’s the way it’s heading many people smarter than me are saying the chance for something bad happening within the next 10 years is high.

America is like a married couple who hates each other but tries to stay together for the kids just waiting for the kids to grow up to go to college before they end it.

That’s going to continue.

More than ever now.

It is in a couple of the Nations. Yankeedom and the Left Coast. And there are a lot of people there.

Good post.
