No haven’t seen it, I’ll go watch it. Ok, most of the way through, wishing death on people is cold and now he’s misogynist, acting as if women have nothing to complain about in terms of oppression in this countries past. Blaming women for standing by white men, as if they had a choice in the matter. Guess he didn’t know what happened to them if they chose someone of another race eh?

The paragraph:

I would implore everybody who’s celebrating a day to remember, it’s good to be a humble winner. Remember when I was here four years ago? Remember how bad that felt? Remember that half the country right now still feels that way. Please remember that. Remember that for the first time in the history of America, the life expectancy of white people is dropping. Because of heroin, because of suicide. All these white people out there that feel that anguish, that pain, that man, they think nobody cares. Maybe they don’t. Let me tell you something. I know how that feels. I promise you, I know how that feels. You’re a police officer. Every time you put your uniform on, you feel like you’ve got a target on your back. You’re appalled by the ingratitude that people have when you would risk your life to save them. Oh, man. Believe me. Believe me, I know how that feels. Everyone knows how that feels. But here’s the difference between me and you. You guys hate each other for that. And I don’t hate anybody. I just hate that feeling. That’s what I fight through. That’s what I suggest you fight through. You got to find a way to live your life. Got to find a way to forgive each other. Got to find a way to find joy in your existence in spite of that feeling. And if you can’t do that — come get these ■■■■■■ lessons.

Great message. Not comedy. Not a comedian. Of course the last sentence is what is going to be fixated on by anyone white and not Woke, which was his intended audience. He used to to drive the message home, he may have drowned it out.

I personally don’t have a problem with it. It does assume that only black people are victims of a couple of things, but that is his context. And a price paid for being a majority.

That is a “chickens coming home to roost message”.

I don’t watch SNL, I don’t have cable for one thing. He came up on my youtube because I watch his stuff and a lot of other stand up.

Chapelle would totally say that joke, if he had thought of it. His sword is definitely two edged.

Agreed. Albeit a little sharper on one side, completely understandable.

I guess nobody told him minorities are catching Covid at higher rates than white people.

And I am not saying everything in the monologue was bad or wrong, just some of it. That’s ok, the left can keep saying all poor white people go to klan rallies and keep wondering where all their votes went I guess. Works for me. The people in Yellow Springs had to be very surprised they are redneck rubes though.

From Yellow Springs, OH Politics & Voting

Individual Campaign Contributions in Yellow Springs, OH

In the last 4 years (2015-2018), there were 2,549 contributions totaling $354,997 to the Democratic Party and liberal campaigns, averaging $139 per contribution.

In the last 4 years, there were 104 contributions totaling $16,256 to the Republican Party and conservative campaigns, averaging $156 per contribution.

Yep, looks like ignorant rubes voting for Trump all right.

It seems to me that Burr and Chappelle are both trying to shock people a bit and push back against cancel/PC culture. Burr even says so during his monologue.

“Bad” and “wrong” are subjective. You are never going to get consensus, much less agreement on that.

Chappell knows that, but he achieved his goal - people are talking.

Establish a new norm?

Maybe. Establish the ability to say something shocking and disagreeable to many and not have your life ruined, your career canceled, etc.

I support their efforts.

Silly me, I thought perhaps consensus could be reached on whether saying all poor white people attend klan rallies on the weekend was a racist thing to say.

“Poor” is not a race.

Note, I didn’t call for him to be censored or fired or boycotted.

Then it wasn’t directed at you.

Caught me before the edit, he said poor white people, not poor people.

Just clarifying that I hadn’t done it.

Ok. Hyperbole for effect.
