Yes, it was the dastardly американский that made Russia invade Ukraine. The Russians were totally innocent. Never meddled in any post Soviet state’s affairs, not even once.
It is called actually searching beyond the current mainstream headlines. I find it especially amusing that New York Times articles from a few years ago are now labeled “Russian propaganda”.
How many of the mainstream narratives that are being pushed now will face the same fate in a few years?
It is if western mainstream media reporting is mainly transparent propaganda to the rest of the world.
The EU ban on Russian media is based on the same logic that the Soviet Union used to ban the BBC and Voice of America during the Cold War. You don’t want citizens to get an alternative point of view that debunks official state-supported narratives.
I’ll admit beyond their architecture (I’ve always found classical mosques to be beautiful buildings) I’m struggling to find things to admire.
Unlike with most other cultures where I could prattle on all day about elements that I admire. Even for cultures that have elements I’m opposed to. Like modern China. I admire them despite considering them our greatest threat long term.
The Arabs went from the global center of science and mathematics to 25% of the regional population actively suffering from genetic syndromes due to centuries of, “First cousin is best!”
That percentage is just the ones suffering from inbred diseases, not the amount of inbred people. Some cultures deserve to fail.
If Russia had the ability to prop up Assad they would have. But they didn’t. It’s not a negotiated settlement when you’re just unable to affect the outcome.
Yes, if Putin had the same approach as Biden they would be fighting there.
Unlike the US, Russia is not looking to fight everyone in the world at the same time.
The State Department is in a curious dilemma. HTS is listed as a terrorist organization, yet the Kyiv Post has been bragging about how Ukraine and Turkey have been training and aiding the HTS-lead rebels.
Will the US designate Turkey and Ukraine as state sponsors of terrorism?
Or will they get a pat on the back for carrying out directives from Washington?
Given the dire shortage of trained troops in Ukraine, why would Ukraine be training Syrian rebels?
Early reports are that abandoning terrorism and valuing diversity are not that high on the list of priorities in Syria with HTS in control.
Meanwhile the US is moving forward with possible removal of HTS from the terrorist list.
I remember when one of the main arguments for invasion of Iraq were alleged tenuous links between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda. Now US policy has put Al Qaeda in charge of Syria.
Gotta laugh at this. Russia was fighting in Syria up until Assad fell and because they couldn’t actually accomplish anything with their depleted resources. Russia is in the middle of the largest war in Europe since WWII. Their neighbor Ukraine that they invaded, occupied and has annexed portions of. Russia is occupy about a third of Georgia. Russia is fighting in Libya. Russia is fighting in Central African Republic, Mali, Niger…the list goes on for quite some time.
