Should Biden add the new Syrian leader to his list of pardons?

The new Syrian government will absolutely not let Russia keep their airbase and and naval base. I’m willing to bet everything I own on that. When you kill tens of thousands at least in airstrikes and missile strikes to prop up a brutal dictator, the victors do not let you stay. They may not kill you outright, but they’ll let you leave to never come back. It’d be like if in 1975 Ho Chi Minh was like “Oh yeah feel free to keep using Da Nang and Cam Ranh US.”

I get that Ho Chi Minh was dead by that point but the gist is the same.

The rapid collapse and relatively small loss of life during the coup are consistent with a negotiated settlement that included Russia.

The settlement was that Russia goes and they won’t be killed. Because Russia had no ability to protect Assad anymore. They tried to take out one bridge between Hama and Homs and couldn’t even pull that off. Pretty pathetic.

I’m hearing that now Syria is gearing up to attack Israel? If they do, you can wipe Syria off the face of the map.

Where are you hearing that? Because it’s total ■■■■■■■■■ I mean complete and total ■■■■■■■■■

Some group in Syria might try to attack Israel, but the new Syrian government won’t do that. Because they aren’t that stupid. Israel’s assistance helped put them in power.

Or Bashir ran out of friends?

Israel has quietly advanced into Syrian-controlled territory in the Golan Heights.

Israeli jets are bombing Damascus.

Israel taking the Syrian Golan makes perfect sense from a military and political point of view. It increases security for their Druze population in the Israeli Golan. From a political standpoint, it would be a good bargaining chip for any potential future negotiations between the new Syrian Regime and Israel.

Israel hits suspected chemical weapons sites

Yes, invasions are wonderful and justified when the US or its allies do it.

How long will it be before Israeli troops attempt to seize control of Damascus?

Yeah don’t want chlorine and mustard laying out in the open for everyone to fight over.

LOL.

Yeah. Just let them attack a Trump supported Israel.

When I went back to it, it’s already been removed and now that story is being replaced by Israel attacking suspected chemical weapon sites.

Invasions make sense in some circumstances, especially when your neighbor is busy trying to clean up politically and establish a new order after a brutal civil war.

Practically any facility for chemical or pesticide production contains chemicals that could be used as weapons. Blowing up the facility can create a dangerous release that can kill local civilians.

Sounds like you agree that the Russian SMO in Ukraine after eight years of brutal civil war was not “unprovoked” . . .

Yeah that’s a bit different. Russia caused the civil war in Ukraine. Israel didn’t cause Syria to blow up. They’ve just been taking advantage of it when possible.

This is a lesson. I don’t know where you get your “news” but it’s bad. Be more discerning. Any place you got that information should never ever ever be used by you as a source of information. And should never be posted here.

The US instigated both civil wars.

Israel has been quietly supporting HTS and similar groups for many years.
