If polls don’t matter why does Trump post polls that are even remotely close to be positive for him the second they come out? Which now is anything that has him over 45% approval. Even when he has to lie about the numbers(see tweet below of Trump absolutely lying about his overall approval numbers).

Polls tells us what percentage of people who were contacted believe in X. We can then determine based on an aggregate of polls the likelihood of X happening or Y happening.
They don’t tell you what’s going to happen. They never have. The 2016 election didnt change anything in regards to what the science behind polls is.
That being said, the polls leading up to Trumps election were incredibly accurate in regards to what they were measuring.
Well to be fair, pollsters didn’t know Trump was engaged in a criminal conspiracy with his longtime fixer to illegally affect the outcome of the election in his favor. Not that you care about that though.

The polls where right, it just that you can not poll the electoral system where a few 10K votes in 2-3 states swing the election. But her numbers from polls where with in margin or error.
