It’s not the House Democrats’ job to babysit or manage the affairs of the majority House Republicans. The Democrats are not going to vote for Gym or Byron or Emmer or McCarthy any more than a House Republican would ever vote for Nancy.

I agree that a congressman who supported destroying the electoral college is not the best choice for speaker, as a Republican.
But you don’t get to take control of a party and it’s direction just because you collect eight people willing to hold their breath till they get their way.
All you do is stir up problems like we have now and hurt your party.

That is true and it proves that they don’t know how to chose their battles.
Plus they didn’t use leverage to accomplish much when they had all 3 branches in their control.
Now they are acting up when they are sitting on very shacky grounds,
that’s immature and they are poor strategists.

I disagree. I think McCarthy deserved to go. He didn’t do what he promised. Like other half crats before him, wasn’t really conservative, as many of the republicans are. They ignore their own voters.

Any other R will do the same.

What McCarthy could do, he did. He was limited by reality. It’s not that “he didn’t do…”. The make-up of the House guaranteed that he couldn’t do a lot of what they wanted.

McCarthy’s fault was telling the bomb-throwers that he would do certain things that were actually dead-on-arrival once he won their support. The fault for that was the GOP’s efforts in the 2022 election. Jordan wouldn’t have been able to do more. Even demi-god Gaetz himself wouldn’t have gotten an inch further than McCarthy did. (And probably would have achieved even less by turning off a lot of GOPers in the House.)

That’s why I keep saying that Gaetz should get on his knees, kiss M C’s boots and beg him to come back.
There is no time left to train a new person on the job. Every new Speaker has to spend a while doing a hit-'n-miss job till he gets comfortable and learns the ropes and chamber Politics.
